I remember like 87 different versions of it. There was the DOS one, the Apple IIe color version, one for Windows. My family owned one called The Search for Spot that was fully animated and voiced, then later I got a geometry version that had completely different characters, story, and gameplay.

Yea this was Mega Math Blaster that came out in 1996. I remember playing Math Blaster in Search of Spot that came out in 1993. Apparently the first one came out in 1983!

Now Search for Spot is the one I played the shit out of! I loved that game so much. And Treasure Mountain+Treasure Mathstorm. Whenever I hear Hall of the Mountain King it makes me smile 'cause of Treasure Mountain and all the fond memories I have of all those weird little educational games I played growing up.

After playing it on my elementary school's computer lord-knows-how-many-times, I remember buying "The Search For Spot" and "Ages 9-12" (the one with the monkey planet) for home use.

I tried replaying them recently, and the monkey-making and gem puzzles at the end of "9-12" are still balls-hard. Good times.

Oh shit, I played a bunch of Math Blaster 2. I remember it because I was reading the book that came with it, as games did back then, and halfway through there was a misprint where a solid chunk of the book was story and background from Warcraft 2. Gul'dan was talking about the tomb of Sargeras, there was a picture of a necromancer raising skeletons to drag down a human knight, and some grainy black and white pics of in game objects...I want to say it was showing how to build oil rigs?

...not math blasters 2, is what I'm trying to say. That game sounded way cooler.

My wife ordered a copy on CD from eBay last year with a promise I could get it working for our 7-year-old.

Took a bit, but after installing Windows 3.11 in DOSBox and somehow meddling through that mess, I got it installed. She played it for all of two hours total.

Totally worth it.

My first ever Math game I played was a bad ass D&D game for Dos called “Adventures in Math” this is when computers could only do 4 colors. It was 1983 when it came out, after that Math Blaster came and that changed EVERYTHING. Thank you for the post.
