The fact that you took the time to contact door dash support over this shows you probably deserved it

First, why do you care? Why did you sit there n watch your cam or go back n watch the recording if your food was delivered ok? Weird. Second, you obviously left a lousy tip for the food/drive. Get over yourself.

Well itā€™s pretty obvious that you didnā€™t tip well if at all

How much did you tip him, OP?

My dad does DoorDash and sometimes he will get tipped just a couple of cents. It's insulting, but he has learned to just laugh it off.

Based on the stories that my dad has told me, it can get pretty stressful. There's been a handful of times where a customer has lied about never receiving their food and my dad has to appeal the strike or else he risks getting fired. Other times, he has to drive from one end of the city to the other end of another city for just $3 pay. All I'm saying is that delivery driver was probably having a very stressful day and your presumably unfair tip stressed him out even more. We're all human.

For fuck's sake, he swore to your door. Maybe you shouldn't be sharing his name and face like he's just robbed a bank.

He's calling you a piece of shit because you left a low/no tip. Drivers will take these orders to keep their completion rate up because it's known that even though the company isn't allowed to penalize drivers who turn down low offers, they do. Next time, put on some pants and go pick up your own food. You piece of shit..

I'd be more worried what a cocksucker like that had done to the food. Eat shit he says. Fuck Doordash.

Obviously he didn't care too much if he's willing to show his face acting like this while they know his name.

If he doesn't want to be associated with this behavior, he shouldn't behave this way.

You think people in the North are less shitty than the South?

I slid into a ditch the other day during an ice storm. I was a little worried since it was almost night, I was far from home, tow trucks were backed up for hours, I was low on gas, and it was approaching 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

Luckily I live in the South and had 3 different people stop to make sure I was okay and offer me a ride and one of them even pulled my car out. Everyone here is so nice, almost too nice sometimes. I've had similar turnouts when I was just pulled over on the side of the road not needing assistance. Constantly having to wave people on because they were so willing to help someone they thought was in need. It's not like I was some pretty young Southern girl either, I'm a middle aged hairy guy...

I lived in Baltimore for a couple years and got a very contrasting experience. Where I live, you make eye contact at the store, you smile, and you move on, maybe a nod. NOT IN BALTIMORE! These people act like you're some sort of psychopath if you even look at them. I made eye contact with this guy and started yelling at me asking what my problem was. I thought I was going to get into a fight with this guy just for being polite!

I'm kinda with Doordash Support on this one. He didn't know you have a video doorbell. I don't know why he was in a bad mood, and he shouldn't have taken it out on you, but he didn't know he was taking it out on you.

Iā€™m an SRE making more than I ever could hope. I see others working just as hard, if not harder, making a fraction that I make. Youā€™re a child if you think we pay for labor by itā€™s intrinsic value.

And no, not everyone can just work fast food. That will crush your fucking soul

Edit: made my comment nicer since I think I misinterpreted it. Core point remains the same

Yeah if you tip shitty when you know thatā€™s what they rely on then thatā€™s worse behavior in my opinion. He swore at the door. If there wasnā€™t a camera no one would have known. OP is probably a worse piece of crap than this guy

I reported this post, hope it gets taken down. Sorry the dude swore and offended you. Giving out his name and location is a deeply shitty thing to do. He didnā€™t threaten or harass you, he privately muttered to himself because heā€™s working a low-wage job andā€”I presumeā€”you made his life more difficult by tipping like trash.

I thought they donā€™t see how much youā€™ve tipped them until after they drop the order off? Unless this guy delivered to him before in the past? But then donā€™t they have to right to refuse that delivery? Iā€™m ignorant someone enlighten me lol

DarkwingDawg t1_j7xuka0 wrote

How about you ask the following questions to yourself:

-What actions did you take to make him do that? -Why are you so offended? -Do you really believe people would side with you on this?

Be honest and answer these questions.

Not only is OP probably an asshole, theyā€™re stupid as fuck for posting this video from their house on their YouTube, then posting that to Reddit, while giving their location, while also having a post of their car with their license plate right there on their profile.

You should delete this idiot.

All work is valuable? What if I take a rock and move it from one side of my property to the other, and then back over and over for 40 hours a week?

Not all work is valuable, and not all jobs are equally valuable.

Admitting to basic logic isn't traitorous no matter how badly you want to pretend. You sound like a communist lol.

I am a communist.

And you sound like the president of your Jr. High Republicans club.

Are you capable of seeing the disingenuous in your analogy? I hope you can. Because I genuinely hope you aren't trying to navigate this world with such poorly developed reasoning skills.

gusteauskitchen t1_j7y2mpm wrote

Working hard does not equal valuable work.

I could take a rock and move it around my yard 40 hours a week, yeah I'm working my ass off, but I'm not bringing value to anyone.

We pay for labor the most accurately way we've ever found, by individuals deciding for themselves how much they are willing to pay for the labor, and how much the individual laborer is willing to do the work for. If you have a better way to figure that out down to an individual level I'd sure love to hear it.

The government deciding how much to charge and pay for jobs they know nothing about doesn't make any sense though, that's why communism keeps failing.

A ton. But Iā€™m also not in a position where I am exploring food delivery as a way to generate income. My guess is this person isnā€™t expecting to make six figures from delivering food. His definition of bad is different than mine.

1

AbaloneMoney3642 t1_j7yuy4g wrote

You're right he's not expecting to see six figures. I'd say around $1.50 a mile or a minimum of $5 for closer deliveries. These guys are paid $2.25-$2.50 per delivery by the company. The rest comes from tips. I was doing it for a few months to make some extra cash and I can tell you these companies need to be investigated because they wll 100% shut you down by spamming no tip orders at you for a couple of hours if you turn down too many low or no tip deliveries.

1

RunHard00 t1_j7yxuhj wrote

Right. My point is that without context, thereā€™s no good way to know if the driver is overreacting or if OP should have expected frustration from the driver. Seems unfair to just assume OP left a ā€œbad tipā€ - bad by the driverā€™s standards, clearly, but maybe not bad in a general sense.

UglyPlanetBugPlanet t1_j8082cp wrote

Yea, it's wild. I wonder if they know it doesn't make sense or if they truly believe it's a good analogy.

Who pays you to move the rock? What's the starting wage? Are there raises? What company is in the pointless rock-moving business? Who's the CEO? Are there any workers on the board?

Oh wait, none of those are answerable because moving a rock isn't a payed job? Lol I hope they know how bad that looks.
