This fucking sucks. ISS was by far the most affordable place in the area to keep a boat/learn to sail. Also the least pretentious.

You don’t call a mens league hockey club pretentious because they don’t allow people who don’t know how to skate...same deal with yacht clubs

Correct, and that's why it's not the reason we call them pretentious.

As somebody who has works at yacht clubs around the bay and Burlington area, I don’t think you guys know what pretentious means. Believe me, at other clubs around the US I have been treated like “the help”, but in Vermont I have never gotten a pretentious vibe from any club or club member.

That's a huge shame. I only had one experience there, a buddy took me out last summer/fall one day with his gf. We had a great time just cruising around, and it was not an expensive experience either. Big loss for the area.

After a vote in 2022 that approved extending the Colchester Town sewer system into Malletts Bay, I suppose I'm not surprised that a business like the ISS is being forced out. Despite construction not starting until 2024, and projected to extend into 2026, the landlords stand to gain a lot more value for their property with a sewer connection. This means more, different tenants with different and/or greater water/sewer needs can make use of the property, and pay higher rents, of course. The research pointed to Malletts Bay sewer helping greatly to keep wastewater out of the lake, but surely that's not the only benefit. I think this will lead to greater development of the Malletts Bay area. Good or bad, you decide.
