I feel like I've tried several dermatologists over the years and every one is either quite rude to me, impatient, or rushes me out. After all I am paying for a service... I just want to be treated well. I have an anxiety disorder and these negative interactions just keep reaffirming the anxiety tied to my skin issues. Feeling quite frustrated.

Sorry you've had this experience. I don't have anyone specific to recommend, but offering maybe something helpful that I've tried? I have noticed that when I start a doctor's visit by letting them know I'm pretty anxious, it tends to go more smoothly. They seem to adjust their approach accordingly. Medical practitioners are unfortunately pretty rushed these days due to the staffing shortages and for-profit healthcare structure. Best of luck to you finding someone that you feel comfortable with!

I go to four seasons dermatology in colchester. They are always really nice and understanding. I have really bad eczema and they have been a god send.

I have had good experiences at both Four Seasons and Dorset Street Dermatology. Dorset Street also has a Med spa and I have had great interactions with Laurie who is one of the estheticians.

I usally see Leah Villemaire. She a physician's assistant. I the first time a saw her a had a eczema break out over 80% of my body. The itch was so bad I had scratched three moles off my arms and had scratched gouges into my skin. I know scratching makes it worse but it itched so bad. She never lectured me (my primary did) and was really understanding and sympathetic

I've been going to Four Seasons for my skin checks - next one week after next. I'm happy enough with the care I'm getting, but I'm also not any sort of special case, just preventive checks. I did go in a few years ago with an actinic keratosis and they took care of it for me.

Dorset st is good, 4 seasons sucks, no one will ever know what UVM is like with their insane booking window.

I called Dorset Street a month ago and they were not taking new patients. I ended up with Four Seasons. I haven’t had my appointment yet so I can’t speak to how they are but the scheduler was super nice.

UVM was disappointing. My doctor basically talked about his cancer and anxiety issues while I was there. I’m now looking to get a second opinion on something that I think he got wrong.

Dorset Street is nice and easy to get into, but doesn't do anything too medical (skin surgery) and doesn't take Medicaid.
Four Seasons does more medical derm, I get lots of reports of poor bedside manner, also doesn't take Medicaid.
UVM is the only place that takes Medicaid. I never refer people with commercial insurance to UVM.

My cousin’s girlfriend (also my cousin / 12th generation native Vermonter) Bessie, got her a deep fried chicken snack bar / beauty salon hybrid business set up in my auntie’s trailer on wheels, she been watching YouTube videos of Dr Pimple Popper and just ordered one of them do it yourself kits of Amazon, and I imagine she could hook you up. She uses a homemade bleach / hydrogen peroxide mix to clean the tools after each client so it’s a pretty sterile operation. (Other than the chicken juice cuz freezer is on the fritz / gotta get the water running… but she’s working on it, she’s using hand sanitizer and windex in the meantime) she will pull up to your spot, do you up, and make you a finger licking meal after… got a special package deal. she also just picked up some of them isopropyl alcohol wipes they use to clean electronics, but she says they work pretty good on the skin, she can do you up a deep facial scrub. Just did up my baby’s momma with some essential oils, her skin is all red right now but I guess that’s the process working it’s magic she says, in a week she will be spotless with skin as silky smooth as a baby’s bottom 👍

I found a good one at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. One was rude and she was right out of college. The rest are great. Worth the 2.5 hour drive one-way.

That's good! They are wonderful. I always go there for anything my local hospital can't help with. In fact, my local hospital teamed up with them because they noticed so many people driving to DHMC to get help.

I see Dr. Shea at UVM and she’s been great for me. They do have two different clinics there, I go to the 4th floor… their referral process was longer than I liked (~2 months a couple years ago), but once I got in it’s been great.

Melanoma runs in my family so I get checked yearly. One of the things I wasn’t expecting when I moved up to Vermont was how difficult it is to get medical care in a timely manner. I live in Burlington and do the drive. My parents don’t live to far away in Quechee, So I do it in the summer and make a trip out of it.
