I used to live in Williston and we’d have to listen to the green mountain boys fly around on a weekly basis. I do not miss that.

Didn't see them but heard. They weren't on ADSB, so they are probably mil fighters. The transports and refueling planes always have transponders on.

I hear them often it’s the f/35s also the c 130s do some low flyovers.

If you hear them but don't see them it's the Green Mountain Boys in their F35's. They are out several times a day.

Ever seen those dumb shit “F-35 for VT” stickers on a “vermonter’s” car?

I'm in Franklin county and every once in awhile we get this fighter jet that fucking SCREAMS over our house INCREDIBLY low. You will be working silently in the yard, all of a sudden there's a slight rumble, then within 3 seconds it's deafening, and then in less than a second it's gone.

It's not an F35 or F16 or any other jet I've seen around here. Almost looks like a Mig - can a civilian conceivably own a mig??

Things are heating up with China and Taiwan...probably more flight exercises scheduled than normal.

For sure! I’m almost positive they are f35s heard them yesterday as well.

Those of us who reside in chittenden county don’t want to hear a peep from anyone else about planes being obnoxiously loud

"MiG" covers many different types of planes. If you're thinking of a Top Gun MiG 28, that's an F-5 or T-38. If you're seeing twin and straight vertical stabilizers like a MiG 29, could be an F-15.

Technically MiGs can be privately owned in the US. They're almost exclusively used for training (red air).

I heard from a guy that used to work on jets out of Plattsburgh that the owner of Shelburne Limestone Corp. owns a Mig jet (unsure which type) and will occasionally fly it around.

20+ years in the USAF, I don't even notice jet noise anymore. Where was this?

It's pretty cool when you're out snowboarding and the F35s zoom through the valley. I wonder if they see us and think: "man I wish I were snowboarding down there" the way we look up and think: "man it must be so fun to rip through the green mountains in a fighter jet"

There is a newly designated military operations zone over the green mountains south of rutland airport.

There is a MOA (military operations area) in southern VT which is a designated area for training.

I'm pretty sure the Massachusetts Air Guard flies F15s so that might be what you're hearing. It wouldn't surprise me if they made it up to southern VT once in a while.

Most likely eagles out of Barnes if you’re seeing twin tails and they’re louder than shit.
