We should complain and force the owner to rename it or close it.

Love the people getting mad because others think it should he changed yet can’t provide the reason why it’s named that way.

Like “we know its bad but you’re bad because you like to see things be better”

Definition snark aside you are wrong it was started be the la/leblanc (translates to white) family. Yes I was wrong in that they don't still own it. Everyone who grew up in the area knows this. Nothing to do with racism my point still stands. Slander libel who gives a fuck this guy is shit head race baiter.

Jeez man all that without mentioning the biggest problem with your post. You implied the name was made for racist reasons "The original owners named this grocery store for reasons you can imagine." the rest is almost irrelevant. While some are bickering over who owns the store now the FACT is it was named after the White or Leblanc family ages ago and has zero to do with whatever you are/were implying with your comment. The reason no one cares in town is we all know it's not a racist name. Trust me this crap has come up quite a few times mostly from young people who are not from here and make stupid assumptions LSC I am looking at you.

In this day of internet mobs cancel culture and the like you can really fuckup someones lively hood by making false accusations yes even if they are false bad things can and do happen.

If I have offended anyone for standing up for a local company that employs many like almost 100 people and that my family shops at almost daily well you can take a fucking number.

While I do understand it may seem to have a troubling association, it is simply named after the original proprietor, Thomas White. He and his business partner Michael Power bought the place together, with Thomas' wife Mary running the place day-to-day. Michael sold his stake to the couple a few years later and they shortened the name of the store at that time.

In consideration of current sensibilities, I think they should consider renaming again. I think it'd be great if they would use the wife's maiden name instead. That way you could still have it named after the family, the troubling association would be gone, and Mary Klan would finally get the recognition she is due for all the work she put into keeping the place running.

None of this is true (as far as I know).

A guy named Fred Bona started it in Lyndonville in the 1950s. He was italian and worked there every day until his late 70s when he got robbed in his parking lot one night. I knew him well for 30 years He did a lot for the local community. Was given many citizenship awards but he’d never talk about it. Great guy. Definitely not a racist.
