Well took the plunge yesterday and checked out Flora in Middlebury.

Quite a nice and clean establishment! The staff were friendly, they made a lot of recommendations at the door after being carded. The store front is very private, frosted glass windows, segregated bud room from the ID check lobby thing. Friendly staff, knowledgeable af.

As far as inventory goes, there wasn't a lot. I think that's due to the market opening up. However, they had some pipes, bongs and other paraphernalia - great options for the tourist or local looking to add a piece to their collection. The spoon pipes were nothing to write home about, picked up one just to help support the local shop. Also picked up royal goo and wedding cake - very tasty and potent.

Which brings me to my next point: price and quality. I'd say that the quality of the product was decent for the price. Better stuff than what the illicit market could render in my recent experience, but a bit on the pricey side. How do I feel about the price and convenience? Pretty good. In my early years of cannabis use I used to get impatient with the usual dope man meme of "on my way" for hours and hours. Now I can get my stuff during regular day light hours without having to wait for some sketchy dude or deal with unscrupulous derpy distribution.

What did I get on my visit and my total spend? Well got one thing of CBD lotion, 3.5g of wedding cake, 3.5g of royal goo, and a small spoon pipe - for $202.65. I'd say the visit was pricey but a very fun and exciting experience for this 30-something life long smoker. My hope is in time, this business will continue to grow, and product offerings will expand. My only gripe is that the pipe selection is very muted, but it pleases me that this shop doesn't try to sell itself as a weed smoking meme but rather a respectable establishment staffed by genuine enthusiasts that are not pushy or over extending in conversation.

I remain optimistically joyed and excited to see where my next weed shop stop takes me.

Kind regards,

Some asshole.

EDIT / Update:

Wow, I cannot believe some of you in the comments section. Accusing me of being a being affiliated with an MSO, in the industry or working for Flora. I will just say this, I am NOT affiliated with any of the cannabis stores or operations. I am an IT guy and guitar builder.

Also yes - I know the market prices are stupid high - much like I was the other night... But seriously, this was just a review of my experience shopping there. I paid my own money and went there out of my own self interest.

Ya'll need to calm down and smoke somethin.

Just like I don't by my plates at the grocery store I don't judge a pot shop by its pipes. An old school head shop is what you seem to want.

No edibles yet because of weird VT kitchen regulations BTW.

Pipe selection wasn't a factor really for me. I was more interested in the cannabis. The pipes they had were ok, just not a lot of choices.

Then again, this is a new business. Who knows what the future holds.

The weed sucked, you inevitably smoked dude up because he’s your “friend”, and it was always a pain in the ass. I don’t mind paying an extra $20 to get good weed super conveniently.

I also grow my own, which helps, but I plan on grabbing some store bought stuff now and then.

I was disappointed at the state of things I found in MA compared to what you see out west. Interested if its market maturity, regulation, culture, or some of each.

We have plenty of time to get better, but curious how things are going out of the gate. Hoping we do a bit better up here 😎

Having lived and visited places with long established legal dispensaries, I really don’t care if the price is double than the black market- I like knowing my stuff wasn’t sprayed with roundup and/or smuggled across a border and supporting some super sketch people. I like knowing what strain it is, getting to know what terpenes it has, how much THC/CBD it has. Less important, but also nice, is I support a tax paying business.

I also enjoy a light buzz and my tolerance is relatively low- so 3.5 grams can last me a whole month if I’m just enjoying a one hitter at night, so the cost isn’t that big of a deal to me. Also- edibles with real dosages are a game changer for me.

If you're a fan of hash oil or vape carts, there will never exist a quality product until the law is amended. VT law dictates a THC cap of 60%, which leaves no room for vape carts or live resin. Purposefully inferior (i.e. diluted) products are coming to the VT concentrates market, which sucks hard because black market concentrates around here are already substandard.

Edit: I was wrong about vape carts

I believe they have most of the info online from the lab testing they've had done on product.

They did include info like % of thc etc, but nothing too geeky if I recall correctly.

They did have these weird jars with magnifying glasses and a smell port on them. kinda groovy.

If you’re looking for flower yeah growing your own is cheaper, but the vape product and edibles are top of the line and I’ve loved them so far. Definitely a good place for vape products, hoping they add more edibles soon. If you’ve been to mass it’s similar prices for things.

I drove down to Middlebury last Saturday. The herb wasn't as great as what I'd call the "best" stuff I've had from the private market, but it was significantly better (and easier to get) than most of the private market stuff I've had.

The edibles were $25 (pretax) for 10 5mg gummies. Personally I'm fine with paying that for accurate measurements of THC levels. I'm too old to play russian roulette with edibles.

I'm probably who this stuff is marketed at. I have the cash but not the contacts, so the legal route is the path of least resistance for me.

very much a benefit of having a legal market. Don't have to rely on a dude trying to hype some bullshit and calling it something crazy and telling me its amazing when its really not. Very refreshing to see data on the products online and also how clean the place was.

They didn't have the disposable vape pens I usually like to get. There were edibles, but I wasn't really seeking them at that moment.

Meanwhile Maine and the entire west coast have shops with the highest of high quality and its cheap as shit (well to be fair top shelf is usually still expensive but you can get the lower grades for cheap as shit and its as good or better than black market/MA shops).

Some deals I've got out west are an entire ounce of shake for $80 in Denver (and it wasn't really shake it actually had little berry sized nugs) and a top shelf quarter on clearance for $35 in Bend, Oregon.

Meanwhile last time I was at an MA shop I bought 5 .5 gram joints and a slice for....$135. Ridiculous.

$55 an eighth? I can buy an oz. For $120 of some shit that will make you hide in the garage until the high has worn off enough for you to go back in the house and face your wife who is very skeptical and suspicious of your behavior. Also stay away from the edibles. I don’t have enough garage or time

Massachusetts, $15-25 weed all day long. If you want "good stuff", Sour diesel can be had for $35. Most 20-35%thc is about $45. 10%tax vs 14%. Resinate has about 30 varieties in stock, web order and pick up. VT can't compete unless you don't want to drive. Weed in Maine is even better. Why go black market and buy a drug dealer their ATV, toys, food, guns, pills? Oh yeah, can you get 98%dabs or just VT's Miller Light?
