This kind of seems like a hate crime

While I’m all for inclusiveness, bar bathroom signs really should be clear enough to be understood while drunk.

And how is that different from being a man and the only available bathroom is for a woman? Or needing to change a baby and the one bathroom with a changing station is occupied? These are "hate crimes?" The world does not exist to cater to your every desire at the drop of a hat. Sometimes you gotta wait for a bathroom. If you can't deal with that, you're not prepared to enter society.

You are shaking about an imaginary scenario you made up in your head?

Cant the imaginary person in your head just wait for their preferred bathroom to be available? Like you and I do in real life all the time?

I think it's safe to assume that the bathroom with the urinal would still have a toilet. Since even if you have the "equipment" to use a urinal, it might not serve your needs at that moment.

I've also never (ever) seen a bathroom with literally just a urinal.

You know that people with penises can pee in regular toilets right?

Also any bathrooms anywhere can be in use, i am a female and if the female bathroom is in use i just wait, like everyone else. Haven't you ever been to an airport or place where there are lines for the bathroom?

I looked at your profile and know you think your trolling now but why would you want people to think your stupid?

I was just thinking the exact same thing!!! I understand it, and the rationale behind it fine sitting here sober, but if it was my first time drinking in that bar and I'd had a few and needed to piss I would be like "so...does that mean there's a subpar urinal in the other one?"

Hula is this way too. Sometimes all the stalls in one are full so you gotta go over to the dark side. Stalls are super private so no big deal but a little awkward. I think it makes more sense at a bar then a workplace

Right, but how awesome is the urinal? I've seen some pretty awesome ones.

This is from The Backyard restaurant in Stowe, been there, some great food ( tater tots loaded with cheese and rib meat, yum). I can say after setting that great expectation for the urinal, it was rather ordinary looking. You'd expect an artisan handcrafted/welded urinal or something not the cookie cutter porcelain ones like they have XD

Ok, but it's getting to the point where I might have to read 3 tiers of signage before knowing where to pee. I'm all for keeping things to a simple graphic or 1-2 words...I imagine that's also easier for folks who don't speak English as their first language. (And drunks.)

The last show I went to had the typical restroom icons indicating M/W/handicap accessibility. Then on top of that they had those cheeky signs for "what to do if you think someone is using the wrong restroom...step 1: acknowledge they have a better understanding of their own gender identity than you do, step 2: mind your own business", then on top of THAT the band playing had strong feelings about gender neutral restrooms, so they had more signs explaining that the M/F icons were temporarily irrelevant. So I'm standing there reading all this, doing my little potty dance, in order to understand why a gaggle of giggling teenage girls is flitting from one restroom to the next.

Who knew bodily functions could require so much direction??

Gendered bathrooms are dumb.

If the men's room is full I'm going to knock, and use the female bathroom, if it's empty.

Seen an old beer keg cut and plumbed up for a urinal.

The best restroom sign I ever saw was one that just had someone standing up and someone sitting down, that’s all it needs to be. Whatever, just wash your hands!

That's what's so ironic about the whole thing...like, have you ever peed at home, or at someone else's house? Then congrats, you've used a gender neutral restroom. And it didn't require a novella of explanation.

I remember when UVM changed all their signage for unisex, handicap-accessible restrooms to indicate "gender neutral". Correcting a problem that never existed in the first place...
