so will the current renewable energy goals be amended, because they are all written using the assumption that hydro power is renewable (hydro power is not depleted when used, which is the definition of renewable)?
I see where this is coming from, but find other ways to incentivize wind/solar/geo/etc than de-incentivizing hydro.
Curious what GMP has to say about this impacting rates if they are required to keep their energy mix at the same renewable mix. They're already at $0.19/kwh for most customers. While that's not that high, it certainly isn't cheap either.
We need MORE baseline power generation to support a future with EVs and heat pumps. Solar and wind are great, but they aren't baseline power (at least not until we figure out utility scale power storage - at least 10 years out). We should be incentivizing the crap out of anything that generates power that doesn't burn fossil fuels, not trying to change the definition of renewable.
