For teens, the ice cream tour itself is likely to be boring. The last time I went, I had a pre-teen and 8 year old and both were bored until the ice cream samples at the end. It's the ice cream that's more appealing, but that said, the ice cream IMO is weak since Unilever took over. As said in another comment, Lake Champlain Chocolate's ice cream is superior. A maple creemee at something like Palmer Maple is better.

Thank you! We adults would prefer a more local establishment. I might not even give the kids an option. I don’t think either know anything about Ben and Jerry’s to associate them with Vermont. And I forget they’ve been bought out by a conglomerate.

And if you want to try a local frozen delicacy you should really go for a creemee! Not sure what parts of the state you will hit but Palmer Lane Maple in Jericho, Morse Farm Maple Sugar Works in Montpelier and Burlington Bay on the waterfront in Burlington are all great options (and they have flavors beside maple). Canteen Creemee in Waitsfield & Crossroads Deli jn Waterbury are also solid options.
