They don't need adjustment they are just bright. The upper bound is below a sedans rear window on level ground.

hmm… if you pull up in front of a wall is it a sharp horizontal line where the light ends or is it more diffuse?

Sharp horizontal line. When I flick on the high beams the line just moves up. No change in brightness.
