Nowadays, the word kanmuri is used for crowns so I'm not sure if the Camry was named specifically after the Emperor's hat since they have other cars related to the word "crown," like Corona, Corolla, and of course, Crown.

I love the idea of a Japanese person complaining about other people mispronouncing their language. Like, buddy, actual English textbooks in Japan use katakana to teach pronunciation. At least people in other countries try to get the right pronunciation.
