Underrated show. Robert Stack only of course.

Weird how things work out like that. Truth is at least as strange as fiction.

Sad story is sadder reading that her mother was murdered in Mexico in the 90s

I wouldnt call it underrated. It was very popular for a long time. Robert Stack also brought a level of creepiness and legitimatcy to each segment be it a missing person or some lady who claims gold is coming out of her skin. Dennis Farina was good but no Robert Stack. All the seasons are an Amazon Prime and YouTube. Not all segments are available for numerous legal reasons like statute of limitations passing or someone who was suspected of a crime was cleared. They still update the episodes when they're solved also.

New series is not the same but does have some decent episodes. The Japanses Tsunami and the Holland Michigan UFOs are two good watches.

I had a roomate who was terrified of that opening theme song. As a noticeable, get up, and walk out of the room reaction when he saw heard it play.

I mean, I get it, as a kid you hear that song and what follows is a terrifying story that releases an unimagined and unresolved horror into a child's mind. Little Timmy isn't sleeping if he watches that episode and probably will wet the bed sometime in the next week. It creates a pavlovian association at some point.

We got a 4k samsung tv a year back. Never wanted a smart tv but it was free. Honestly the free channels are legit. Before school now we've been watching a lot of "retro" shows.

I used to think those zombie movies where people lied about being bitten and apocalypse movies were most people were assholes were a bit over the top.

Welp, 2020 happened….

The whole stranger danger thing is largely overblown. Most times when a child is kidnapped it is by a non custodial parent or relative. Like most violent crime perpetrated by someone you know and not strangers. Not saying the other doesn’t happen just not in the amount people that the media acts like it does.

Wasnt this the most watched show at the time? If anything its overlooked today. Sadly helpful wise I recall, much like restaurant rescue shows, the ratio of actual solved cases is a tiny percentage, and unsolved mysteries arguably could create more fear in the public about things like child abductions than in reality.

Coming from an obsessed fan of the show as a kid myself :)

This show was downright terrifying. The child abductions, the demonic presences, and aliens.

Remind me of when the US Army went looking for a missing soldier and found another missing soldiers corpse.

What's so strange about this? The guy probably remembered that his schoolmate was abducted as typically these things are highly publicized (for good reason) but didn't know her well enough to remember her name or be able to identify her.

Seems to me he just saw the program and thought "that sounds like the girl at my school!"

Am I wrong?

The only thing noteworthy about it, which isn't mentioned here, is that his tip led to the other girl's recovery.
