Man never got the respect he deserved tbh. He came up in the same time as Elvis and always took offense to people calling Elvis the King of Rock and Roll. In Little Richard's mind he was the King and it wasn't even close.

He really didn’t at all. For all his bluster and ego the man was right. He wasn’t conceited he was convinced. He was 100 times the performer, innovator, showman, artist, musician, and PERSON than 99% the people that got all the clout.

The Grammys started in 1959. Most of Little Richard's best known songs are from before then.

TIL that Little Richard’s only Grammy was a lifetime achievement award in 1993. The Architect of Rock and Roll didn’t win one competitive Grammy.
