I think in the first five years you need to do 2 at sea and 3 on land, but I'm unsure.

You need college classes in, if I remember right, physics and some higher math. Not much knowledge for a maritime officer base. It’s more geared towards the science aspect of the vessels and not the operation.

So I guess 6 if you try to count the Marines as their own branch even though they fall under the dept of the navy?

Fun fact is NOAA captains outrank coast guard personnel

They used to bill themselves as "The Nation's Seventh Service." IMO, they shouldn't be demoted because of "space force".
