Was this plan put together by Dennis Hoppers' character from Blue Velvet?

This dude was bizarre to say the least, he even sought out mental health treatment in Spain because he knew he was insane. Executing 189 people wearing a Santa costume is one of the more sane things he did

"On Christmas Eve 1969, he had 186 suspected dissidents executed in the national football stadium in Malabo with the executioners dressed as Santa Claus. While the executions were going on, amplifiers played Mary Hopkin's song "Those Were the Days". 150 were shot or hanged with the remaining 36 being ordered to dig ditches in which they were buried up to their necks and eaten alive by red ants over the next few days."

Thats some fucked up stuff!

I have not seen a single primary source say they were dressed up in santa clause costumes.

Not defending this guy, but there actually isn't a lot of evidence for the part about the executioners being dressed as Santas.

Public executions were a real thing under Nguema, and he did have over a hundred executed on Christmas Eve 1969, but the Santa suits is something I need to see actual fact-checked information on.

Of the two sources cited on Wikipedia for this awful event, one mentions the Santa costume thing as likely unfounded. The other makes no mention of Santa costumes.

That country that had a brutal and murderous dictator for 11 years, then removed him from power, executed him and replaced him with his nephew - who's been a brutal and murderous dictator for 44 years now. Cool beans.
