He spent it on skins, bucks etc, not buying the game. Fortnight is free to play, they get their money through micro transactions

Interesting, I didn't know consoles adopted the micro transaction model, that's amazing, but at the same time almost worse that he spent that money on digital clothes...

It's so much worse. Spending almost any amount of money on FOMO-marketplaces like Fortnite's means you've fallen headfirst into the trap they've laid out. You could've bought anything with that money, even just more games, but you were conditioned to believe the little dopamine hit of seeing your character do a new dance was worth however much they were selling it for.

Also might be worth mentioning that those microtransactions have a tendency to add up in a big way.
