I'm sorry bud, but that collection will never be the same. I think you should look at this experience as buying yourself a guilt free life away from all contact with your parents as soon as you can. They sound irredeemably cruel to me. Never trust them again.

Stay strong. Also, regularly check your credit. They sound like the sort of people who will take out cards in your name. If they do, do not be deterred from going to the cops.

OP please listen to this part above anything else in this thread, your parents are scummy losers and you should be very worried about them stealing your identity and building up debt in your name.
