TIFU by deleting some porn

I’m a music teacher that uses my personal MacBook for teaching. You can see where this is going, but I assure, I’m rather tech savvy and know how to thoroughly erase my traces. Or so I thought. I rarely download porn because, who does that? But one particular video caught my eye and soon I had in my downloads. Once I was, er, done, I dragged it into my trash bin, right click, empty, done. Next day I was teaching, I hooked my MacBook up to the screen and it turns out, I actually dragged the vid into the taskbar beside the bin, not into it. It’s also worth noting that my taskbar automatically hides itself, which is why I didn’t catch it earlier. And there we go, a super detailed vid description, because that’s how downloads are for some reason, for all my students to see when I did something with the taskbar.

TL;DR: thought I deleted some porn, turns out I made it even easier to see, with a mistake that’s very easy to repeat.

I'll give you that there has to be some actors who are doing it just for the money but theres a reason they have a niche to fill

Maybe educate yourself before forming a strong opinion and if you can‘t/won‘t, just don‘t talk about that opinion, specially unasked. That’s a great quality in a teacher. Also, you don‘t have to have an opinion on everything, life‘s too short to do that much research.

  • no “tech savvy” or socially aware human being has the recycle bin in their task bar and i would immediately sweat anyone on the spot in front of everyone if they did

  • downloading porn torrents? as you say: who does that? people who can’t find stimulating enough material using conventional methods.

Recycle Bin lives on the taskbar in MacOS. Lots of weird things about macs, but I think this is one of the better ones. Whatever you have open you can drag straight to the trash without having to minimize windows to get see it (of course, right click-delete works just as well, but whatever).

Can you not permanent delete on Mac with shift+del like on windows.
