Carry Benadryl with you until you can get tested an have epipen. Usually you’ll need to take it for 2 days following a reaction. Urgent care or emergency room are appropriate in a case like this. Please go asap. Keep carrying Benadryl even when you get the epipen.

If I were you I'd start carrying benadryl just in case. Better drowsy than in danger from an allergic reaction, and speak to your doctor about a prescription for EpiPens. Allergies can get randomly worse, I had a friend who went from a mild peanut allergy to anaphylactic reaction in a year. We were teenagers so maybe that was part of it, I don't know the details, but better safe than sorry

Glad to hear you're being proactive! Allergies are so terrifying and yet so fascinating (as a function of the human body gone haywire)!

That was scary and I'm glad you're ok. FWIW I was told to use the epi pen as soon as it seems that my kids breathing gets affected.

By the way, did that chicken and avocado wrap have pesto in it? Sometimes they use cashews instead of pine nuts.

Yeah, you need an epi-pen. That could have killed you.

GI symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea can occur in an anaphylactic allergic reaction. Please avoid cashews and discuss this with a doctor.

All I had was a wholesome award, but I just felt that you deserved one.

Quick benadryl tip. Break them in half if it's for serious allergic reactions and they'll dissolve quicker. The speed of delivery can save your life.

next time your throat swells, call 911 IMMEDIATELY - that was an anaphylactic reaction

If you’re allergic to cashews, also watch out for pistachios! I’m allergic to both, and they’re the only nuts that trigger my allergy. I learned of the cashew one when I was like 5, but had no idea of the pistachio until a lot later. I know someone else with the cashew/pistachio allergy. I’ve had my allergy doc say they’re not quite sure why it’s just those two nuts.

Something else I’ve learned: some pestos will have cashews subbed in for the pine nuts so watch out for that too!

Usually Benadryl stops the reaction if I get some in me fast enough. Def get an epipen script from your doctor if you’re able to, and carry it everywhere. As soon as you feel your airway constricting, let that thing swang.

Same thing happened to me. I don't know what nut I'm allergic to but I am allergic to one. And turns out I'm also allergic to feathers. Both reactions happened at work.

The Feather one was funny. I used to work as a front desk receptionist. And a customer complained about being allergic to the pillows. Then brings the pillows down. And I didn't know I was allergic and I took them. Minutes later I have a hard time breathing and I got a rash going on. Customer's wife passes by and I told her. Turns out I'm also allergic to pillows.
