you gotta drink water... but not from the New Orleans municipal supply.
Room temperature bottled water would be fine, just make sure you drink it after alcohol or spicy food and you'll be ok.

Alcohol and strange foods will do it. I used to live in New Orleans and about 1 out of 5 times I go there I over indulge and end up begging God to call me home.

I had to go to the ER in N.O. for severe vomiting. I had oysters for dinner. The ER doc told me that Katrina killed off a lot of the oyster beds. As a result the oysters are shipped in from all over and aren’t fresh. He said they had a huge uptick in people sick from the sea food.

Yeah happened to me a few months back, same symptoms and everything. It persisted for a while so I had a doctor check it out. It was gastritis. I’ve never felt pain like it. I know how you feel man.

seriously wouldn’t wish the pain on my worst enemy

The real fuckup is not going to the ER

probably but if i went to the ER they would’ve given me fluids and pepto bismol, said sorry ur tummy hurts, and send me home with a $10,000 bill

Pretty sure it's gastritis. You want the pink lady combo in emerge. Quick dissolve pantoprazole, ondansetron and morphine.
You're story is almost my own experience exactly and that was my diagnosis and treatment.

You def have gastritis and you may even have Pancreatitis. Go see a Dr. If you can’t afford it (I’m Aussie and we know healthcare isn’t cheap over there) then go get yourself a good reflux medication and some probiotics. Try and stay on a very bland diet (clear fluids would be best) for a few weeks and if it doesn’t improve you may need IV antibiotics and a couple days in hosp on IV fluids. We get pancreatitis patients in to ED pretty much every day with symptoms just like yours so don’t beat yourself up but learn something from this so you don’t do it again.

thank you for the advice! i have definitely tried to take it as a learning experience and i’ve been trying to eat very plain foods. it has helped me manage and now my pain level is down by a LOT. i will go get checked out by a doctor as well!

Life pro tip.
The mouth floods with saliva before vomiting to protect the mouth from the stomach acid.
So if you're feeling nauseous and not sure if you are gonna throw up or not that is the warning to watch for. When that happens you are about to vomit, it's not just nausea any more.
Looking out for this may buy you a few extra seconds to sprint to something to throw up in.

Honestly, if you go to New Orleans you should just plan on getting a disease at some point. That city (specially Bourbon Street) is like living in a landfill. In fact, I’d trust a landfill more.

I have a feeling that you might use it more in the future. It actually is the healthier alternative to alcohol, so consider it a win.
Thought of CHS as well when you mentioned the shower helping, but it is a very rare phenomenon which usually happens to long-time heavy cannabis users, so it can be ruled out for you (luckily).

I love how they went right to that when you didn't even mention smoking in your post. Everybody is an armchair doctor, smh. Hope you're feeling better, man!

Certainly a TIFU, but that sounds to me like a good amount of food poisoning from questionable food in New Orleans and not necessarily alcohol. And let me tell you, there's a LOT of questionable places to eat there.
