She vaccumes, cleans the beds, and puts clothes away. It was cloth on the bed. I mean, did she have to touch it to know? Probably not, but OP did put his mess directly in the way of the normal tasks she does.

When I was housekeeping I was told if they leave stuff on the bed you don't make the bed.

When my fiancée did house cleaning work, that wasn't a rule for her. They cleaned like normal unless specifically told by the client to not worry about certain items or rooms.
