So this happened a couple of days ago, i was interviewing at this place, was about a hour away from my home, and it had just snowed the night before, so roads were rough. I left early, and luckily ended up arriving early, but the parking lot was full, and the streets were not plowed at all. There was a bunch of cars parked on the side of the road, so i also did, in like a inch of snow.

The interview went good, it was a group screening interview and all went well, however, when i tried leaving, my really old truck, couldn't get out. There wasn't any branches or anything near by to get traction for my 2wd truck, so I had to get some help from inside. so I sheepishly wander back in, explain I got stuck, laugh a little, and then they get 2 guys come out and help me, they give me a push, and just like that I get unstuck.

however, thats not the end of it. once unstuck, i then hopped out of my truck, and ran over to go thank them and shake their hands. But just as i hop out, a gust of wind slams my door shut. locking me out while its still running. So now here i am, freezing temperatures, in my nice suit still, stuck out of my truck after a stressful interview, in a even more stressed situation now, embarrassed in front of a potential future employer. We collectively try some things, one of the guys have a little metal scrap and trys to pick it, someone has a similar vehicle key, we try that, we try prying the back window with a credit card. nothing works. VERY LUCKLY the local police department, will unlock vehicles for free. So i call up the non emergency number, explain i done fucked up, and they say a officer will assist me shortly. wait inside for about 10 minutes of which then a officer pulls up. He has everything needed to get in, however, he could not get it at all. So i start stressing more, and im freezing my ass off, as my shoes are now soaking wet from all the snow. I then get the idea to try the back window again, but with his giant plastic wedge, so i jump up in the back of my dirty truck with my suit, and pry the window open, and then crawl on through, and unlock my truck. I thank the cop, and drive off as fast as the snow will allow.

The cherry on top is that the building, is very close to the street, and every room has a window, so EVERYONE working their was probably watching the entire thing start to finish, me getting stuck in the snow, me locking my self out, and the cops lights probably didnt help the situation at all drawing all the attention.

TL;DR : go to a interview, then proceed to get stuck in the snow right outside, and lock my keys inside my truck, and have to call the cops to get it open, all while everyone inside probably just sat and laughed.

This experience will definitely make you stick out in their minds. However, from the sounds of it the interview went well. This might be a good thing in terms of keeping your name on the top of their head. It’ll be a bad source of nicknames once you start though.

As long as you had a good attitude about it probably just make you more memorable and could help you get the job. Stuff like this happens all the time and most people wouldn't pay too much attention or remember for long.

They might remember you more so than the other applicants now and be impressed with your ability to stay calm and deal with a crappy and unexpected situation!

I don’t mean this in a mean way, but your situation was just not that interesting or uncommon, and they had their own work to do. So you can relax, They barely even remember you at this point. Good luck on the job!

What happened is why you are gonna be remembered. Wouldn’t be surprised if get a call. If you were in the running already and kept your cool- then any smart employer will see you as a human who has shit happen, and knows how to handle it and roll with the punches.
