Imma probably catch hell- but I feel like this is one of those shows thats technically good, well written, twists, etc….

but its just too damn depressing and dark. You dont feel good after watching and its not a great experience.

I just cant go there these days. Same way I cant enjoy John Wick. Like just murder and guns. No.

I totally get it, my wife and I were kinda like “…well shit that was depressing” after the first episode, and I told her I really liked it, but that is appeared to be a story largely about shitty people in a shitty town that’s fucked”.

So I agree with your assessment. Also, having both a 4 and a 1 year old has also made some situations more relatable and/or difficult to watch.

I wouldn't even really call it depressing and dark, tbh. I watched it because someone told me it was "similar to true detective" and I felt kind of like It'd been lied to; the show's mystery was easily predicted, and the cast of characters didn't really have much charisma about them. Not that the acting isn't good or anything - it's just a show about people who suck. Everyone's shit. And sometimes that's a good watch, but I bounced right off of it because of it.

It's a detective show, it's about murder and deception, it's supposed to be dark.

You should check out Murderville though, it's hilarious.
