I have very strong feelings against some shows that I loved up to a certain point, which point is also a perfect ending and closure to the show, but then it just kept going and going downhills up to a much less satisfying ending and only a handful of strong saving moments.

Hannibal (starring Mids Mikkelsen) was done and masterfully closed with season 2, but then it had a forced season 3 which was a trainwreck and a so-so course correction towards the latter half which sort of saved it, but never lived up to the perfection of season 2 ending.

Vikings (History Channel) had it's ups and downs after the generation shift, but despite none of Ragnar's sons having the charisma that Travis Fimmel carried, at least two of them grew to be great characters, bogged down in a plethora of sideplots, through which they managed to shine from time to time. Sadly Vikings has no perfect quitting point because it's written with an always ongoing main arc, but if you stick with the show as long as you can, you'll find no better peak point to quit than the last season's first episode's ending, which leaves some major "villains" alive, but doomed to be remembered as a shame and traitors, which is an added bonus to a glorious final series of events.

The Walking Dead arguably started to drop in quality sooner than most of the Negan haters would say, I'd argue he brought the sort of tension, high stakes and charisma that the show gravely needed at that point. Too bad the plot got bogged down in needlessly many sideplots that gave me a secunder shame feeling just watching it (garbage people, oceanside), and some of the scooby do worthy of action scenes were laughable, but damn Negan grew to be an amazing story with Carl and Rick, a story that peaked when Rick said "give me ten seconds for Carl". Season 8's ending with a father's letter written to son is a perfect ending that creates a frame and returns to where the show began. The final ending of the last season not only never even came close to this, but it failed to be an ending and was both a cringe cameo fest and a setup of spinoff shows instead of an actual ending.
I wonder what grinds your gears
