Owen Dennis, creator of Infinity Train, recently made a blog post discussing how the corporate obsession with franchises and pre-existing IP is basically worse than it’s ever been. Studios don’t want to hear about anything original, and even if you pitch something new to them they try to rework it into a property they already own.

It’s an interesting read, but also a pretty disappointing confirmation of how these executives think when greenlighting shows.
