Arrested Development > Schitts Creek

Arrested Development was great but fizzled out by the end, where Schitt’s Creek started slow but became something really special and ended beautifully. It’s also more wholesome than Arrested Dev and the humor style is pretty different imo. I love them both though!

I agree with AD. I could not get into the extra seasons after it came back. Sounds like I should give SC another go.

How far into Schitts Creek did you get? Season one was the weakest season by far but after watching the series more than once I appreciate it more than on my first watch. My first run I loved David. My second I really started to appreciate and recognize how funny Alexis was. And YES I watched a third time and that's when I really appreciated Moira and honestly, Roland a bit. It's one of my favorite shows.

I only watched the first episode, had trouble not comparing it to Arrested Development. Usually I give a show at least 3 episodes. I’ll have to give it another try.

Oh yeah. Definitely give it more time. The first season is definitely the weakest of all 6. One good thing is the episodes are so short so it's easy to binge.lol

When I started watching Schitt's Creek, within the first few minutes I could not stop thinking about Arrested Development. Luckily the show morphed into its own thing. I really like Schitt's Creek, but Arrested Development is in my top tier of comedies.

Good to know that initial comparison fades away. Maybe I’ll give Schitt’s Creek another try.

Yeah, the characters actually grow and change. As the show goes on it has way more feel-good stuff than AD ever had. I still like AD more, but Schitt's Creek is a nice show with good jokes.

I think they're similar for the first half of the first season, but it quickly becomes obvious that AD is about people with, well, arrested development. While SC is about everyone growing. And then they quickly diverge from there.

They really did such a good job with each characters growth and development.

Alexis's growth is so well done. I think the last season was fairly weak in comparison to the rest except for Alexis's story with Ted. They knocked that one out of the park. (Closely followed by that Stevie/David scene from one of the final episodes)

This never even crossed my mind because of how different they are. I don’t think they should be compared because they are both absolutely brilliant.
