Peak GoT had "The Bear and the Maiden Fare" which fucking sucked. And surprisingly so considering that was one of the GRRM episodes.

Buffy had Beer Bad.

Considering how top-notch I thought the rest of the season was, House of the Dragon's The Green Council sucked. Surprising because I thought the Greens plotting around Viserys' death would be an entertaining scenario, but then they decided to frame the entire episode around finding Aegon in a whorehouse, and it was just bad.

Some of the one-off episodes of the Battlestar Galactica remake that weren’t part of the main storyline. Black Market and Sacrifice come to mind

It's really easy to forget that Star Trek TNG season 7 was mostly pretty weak because the finale, "All Good Things" was incredible. But the worst of that mostly bad season was Sub Rosa.

A big chunk of Twin Peaks season 2. David Lynch left the show shortly after the killer reveal early in the season and woah boy does it show. Granted, I loved a lot of the zany fucking storylines like Civil War Ben and super strong Nadine, but it got pretty rough as it went on.

Thankfully, Lunch returned for the season finale and landed the ending. Fire Walk With Me and The Return were masterpieces.

King of the Hill—“Peggy’s Pageant Fever”. Peggy’s character’s entire conceit is that she’s oblivious. About most things. That episode was both tough to watch and too much like other Peggy-centric episodes but just not as good (e.g., 11:1, “The Peggy Horror Picture Show”).

7

Griffin_Reborn t1_j228gf5 wrote

Book readers were very disappointed in that episode. The Green Council plotting the usurpation of the Crown is a really interesting section of Fire and Blood and rife with cool angles a live action depiction could take. Sadly, they fumbled it. It’s not a horrible episode but it didn’t live up to its potential.

bigbucsnowhammies t1_j22dorz wrote

It was early on in the series, but the Seinfeld episode where he had to dog sit for the drunk guy was awful.

Sacrifice made star buck look really dumb when they just changed on there. Why would a pilot be in charge of a hostage situation. Wouldn't the marines been better equipped.

Happy Endings - the series premier. Very weak; almost cringey. And the subsequent few episodes after that weren't great either.

But from the second half of Season 1 onwards, it grew exponentially in quality, and eventually became one of my favorite sitcoms ever created.

It exposed the entire series as a fraud.

Lost fans don't hate Expose. They hate how Nikki and Paolo were parachuted into the season in general.

Expose is actually a great episode: fun and campy (and just the right amount of cruelty, considering the negative reaction to Nikki & Paolo) and a perfect eject button for two characters that simply weren't working on the show.

Griever08 t1_j231v87 wrote

I get where they were going with it, if he's supposed to kind of be the peace mediator then they should show him doing that. But it had plot holes and in the end aang had to lie to even get it to work, which doesn't show him as being capable since that's usually not going to work. Bad episode in an otherwise perfect series

I already hate Christmas for my own reasons, but the schlock most shows put out for their Christmas episodes is just cringe.

Except for it’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Seeing Charlie bite into Santa’s neck was awesome

I know I’m gonna get backlash for this, but in Breaking Bad the episode “The Fly”. I know it gave important backstory and character development, but I just thought it was the most boring episode of the series.

Them finding the fly in the supermethlab in Breaking Bad. I remember it was late at night and my roommate and I both had stuff to do the next morning, so we said we were only gonna watch one more and then we would be done for the night. It ended up being that episode. We felt so cheated that it was an hour of Walter and Jesse trying to kill a fly that we made a special exception and said that the episode didn’t count and that we would watch one more.

tdg5014 t1_j246mv8 wrote

The walking dead when they introduced that that corny ass character with the pet tiger on a chain or something. Literally shut it off and never watched another episode.

It was already getting to be way over the top, this just was just the last straw I think. I don’t even remember the specifics of the episode, just the ridiculousness that had taken over the show.

macdemarker t1_j24asfj wrote

I stopped watching a little after the reveal. I couldn’t tell where the show was going, what was important, and it felt really aimless. No idea that David lynch had left part way through, but I guess that explains why I lost interest

I loved "Northern Exposure," but I cannot bear to re-watch the episode where Shelley Tambo wakes up one morning and sings everything instead of talking. It was so cringey. I don't know how Cynthia Geary or the other actors got through it.

BSB8728 t1_j24kb1x wrote

They also did that for the last episode of "Leave It to Beaver" in 1963. Ward and June and the boys go through a family photo album recalling incidents from the boys' childhood. Not only was it boring, but it didn't make sense, because no one was on hand taking pictures when those incidents occurred.

Such a bad episode. There isn't a single thing in Sub Rosa that isn't uber cringe, unnerving, and generally just bad.

Beverly boinking Casper the (Not) Planet Scotland Ghost, and getting off is peak bad Trek. Worse than Georgies romance episodes. Worse than all of VOY. Worse than Code of Honor. Worse than PIC and DISC combined (and that's saying something).

Edit: Spelling

The lone filler recap episode in fullmetal brotherhood where hohenhiem gets drunk and talks about the exposition we already had on the boys and their lives.

Completely stops the momentum in an otherwise perfect 64 episode show.

I think you’re right about it being forced but that personally made it funnier for me. I feel like Will Ferrel is such a loud/ present person that seeing him not fit in was pretty interesting. Really glad he was a temporary character though. I’m definitely biased towards him though because I love step brothers.

Series 1, episode 2 of Spaced. It's probably my favorite show of all time, it's so funny and clever and referential. I show it to everyone I can, and everyone is on board after the first episode and completely lose interest after "Gatherings". You need to know the characters a little better to get the "funny" in that episode. It sucks, because then no one wants to pick it up when things get really good. And it's not such a commitment! Only 14 episodes total! But yeah, that one is a bit of a dud.

ER: Secrets and Lies from S8. I don’t get how so many people love it? Most of the characters in that episode act like they’re 12 years old and discovered sex for the first time. And why Carter and Luka would want to fight over Crabby Abby is beyond me anyway.

I also didn’t like The Good Fight from S5 with Carter and Lucy chasing their tails to find the father of the girl with the rare blood type…only to find out he was in the diner across the street the whole team.

Golden Girls: Been watching this a lot lately since I’ve been laid off and it’s good comfort TV. But I have never liked the two-parter in S4 where Sophia marries Max. They have no chemistry and it’s so awkward and forced. (Dis)honorable mention to the Empty Nest plot in S2 as well.

Yeah, for the record: In retrospect, I think it’s easy to love Nikki and Paolo when you understand that their introduction is leading to a fun, dark-comedy murder send-off instead of more overwrought mythology/mystery box stuff. (Which I also love, but Lost had enough of that already.)

macgart t1_j26b64a wrote

I’m really not a fan of the liberties they take from the source material. I strongly suspect that this setup will leave people dissatisfied with the endgame of the show. It feels like the greens are not even a little sympathetic and Rhaeneyra is Daenerys 2.0.

ppeters0502 t1_j26q9ja wrote

Yeah wasn’t a huge fan of that episode either. It’s not specifically one episode, but there were like 2-3 episodes in a row in the early seasons where Jesse’s storyline was super weak as well, and made the show as a whole slow down a ton. There was an episode where his whole motivation was getting a car out of the impound lot, and falling into a porta-potty, and by that point I had almost given up on the whole series. Thankfully I stuck around and it got a lot better!

But yeah I’d say the flu was the weakest single episode of the series.
