I think Happy Days might have had more, but at least three of those - Mork & Mindy, Blansky's Beauties, and Out Of The Blue - appeared in a halfassed backdoor pilot on Happy Days and could barely be considered spinoffs.

I believe Happy Days had 5. Some are debated, as you alluded to, but I count them. All in the Family wins with 7 solid spin-offs, but Happy Days is a great honorable mention.

I enjoyed them, but it seems that they both followed a more cinematic style than previous shows, there's always a major cataclysm that's looming, lens flare's, and a super dramatic score. While the earlier shows were formulaic, there was a comfort to them, as you were almost spending time just seeing how life on a federation starship played out. Production value is top notch, acting is pretty good, and the story lines are not bad. Some things just felt somewhat forced, or drawn out when they didn't need to be. Anyway, that's my opinion.

They both started out decently but quickly disintegrated after a season or so. Both fell victim to writers/producers having to out-do their past Season which takes every season into evermore absurdity.

Both quickly left the Star Trek-y ways and turned into generic cataclysmic end-of-the-world plots et cetera. Take TNG, DS9 and SNW: Dial the dramatics and action by x25 and you have Discovery/Picard. It's very over the top.

I think they just chose two shows out of the five new Star Trek shows they listed. So I don't think they hate all new trek I think they were voicing opinions on two very poorly managed shows amongst the list.

JAG spun off NCIS which spun off 4 more shows(?)

LA, New Orleans, Hawaii, Sydney.

LA spun off another show NCIS: Red, but that did not get picked up. Otherwise that would have been a nice 3-level spinoff

So it's like Riverdale in the sense that if you watch the first episode it is about teens in high school and the murder mystery that happens in s01 and now seven seasons later they have superpowers?

NCIS sydney is a strange idea.

surely after a few hundred american navy members get murdered in sydney it would cause some kind of international crisis.

Or your going have to explain why americans are allowed free roam in another country

Archie had a neighbor that moved and then was a detective in the precinct. Same character. The Puerto Rican neighbor.

It has been a long time, but that's how it was told when I was watching it 1st run.

Edit: I may be remembering backwards. He may have left the precinct and moved into Archie's neighborhood.. ..

2nd edit: same actor, different character. No clue where I came up with that wraparound story, but I was solidly convinced it came from the show.
