I just absolutely HATE Beth and I am unclear why she is the star of the show at this point. The show was supposed to be about John and that pivoted majorly last season. Her character sucks. She should be in a mental institution, but instead everyone is like “watch out for Beth she’s a real firecracker! We’ll put you in charge of a billion dollar company.”

Heave you seen some of the psychos they put in positions of power?

I read somewhere he was only supposed to be in parts of season 1, but he was such a big hit with the fans, they kept him in the show. Mo is great.

I enjoyed seasons 1 and 2. 3 a little bit. 4 was bad so I'm not bothering with 5. The acting has become bad and the writing lazy. NVM Taylor Sheridan's self indulgent horse riding montages. There are better shows to spend my time on.

The drama is driven by her character's antics. Which is terrible because she's an unbelievable character and the fact that they use her to drive so much controversy is lazy and sexist writing. Even all the other characters' problems seem to revolve around fixing her mistakes or avoiding getting caught up in them.

Taylor Sheridan should really focus on his character writing..I feel all the males are terribly complex, there's no way to fault these men for what the boy went through type characters and then all the females are 2D caricatures. That's really my only beef with the show. The story is good, just hard to follow sometimes because of this.

I watched it, no hate, just disappointment. Another Dynasty ripoff but with view on Yellowstone.

Kevin Costner playing Kevin Costner playing ranch owner who think he's cowboy.

Asian actress playing native American and false claims heritage.

Blond cardboard woman character driving whole show with unrealistic fuck ups..etc.

Which is always doubly funny because the main characters aren't supposed to be role models or good guys at all. It's kinda like the guys reading Punisher comics thinking he's a role model.

edit: or guys that think Tony Soprano was the good guy in the Sopranos, come to think of it.

Isn't that why it popular in republicans circles?

White rich conservative dude killing people and doing whatever he wants to protect ownership of the land that his grand grand father promised gave back to natives in 1883 series.

You are right. I've seen a lot of that.

John Dutton, obviously a hardcore right-winger self-proclaimed "eNeMy Of PrOgReSs", is elected governor and the very first thing he says behind closed doors is "f this state, the only thing that actually matter is the raaaynnch". It is shown repeatedly that the only way he has been able to maintain his iron grip on his enormous amount of land - that he inherited and did nothing to earn himself - is through violence and corrupt dealing. This is obviously not a good or heroic person or family.

Ironically, it seems like a lot of conservatives see the show as conservative propaganda...which is scary, considering the above, but not surprising.

Finally, it is ok for bad guys to be right sometimes, and many redditors seem to struggle with that idea. "Villain protagonist loves natural things and wants to protect them from overdevelopment"...didn't everybody love and connect with Thanos as a villain for having this same take?

Yes I watched. Ridiculous plotlines, no accountability with unrealistic police, plot armor of Beth, whining little bitch brother who happens to be attorney general and punch bag for her, Costner playing Costner, Ed Sheridan faping on filming himself riding horses. Did I missed something? Ah yes asian actress playing Native American.

Ps: Yellowstone nature is great in show, some shots incredible.

Thank you, really. Ive been showing thus and a few of your other comments around. You 100% proved my point, watch the show and maybe drop some of the full on hate you have. You mught be surprised, btw the way the "asian" actress( shes American btw , racist much? ) seeked tribal approval and spent time lesnring tribal culture. The show also has help from multiple reservations, making sure things are done right. You are also ignoring the article about an Native American actor who loves and supports his own role on the show. So maybe step back and drop of some of the hate, do some research and know the facts.

People keep spreading this news around but I can't find anywhere where Kelsey was actually quoted as claiming to be part native.

The only direct source I can find is a New York Times article written by a part-time Law Professor, where he mentions that Kelsey is part Taiwan, British, and Cherokee descent. But there's no actual quote from Kelsey directly stating this and I've seen no corroborations. Just the law professor writing an unverified opinion piece that doesn't have a lot of sources backing it up.

Maybe the criticism is valid and fair, but as far as I can see this "controversy" was drummed up by a few individuals who were upset that a non-Native American was cast in a Native American role.

This part is actually true - many Native bloggers were upset that Kelsey was cast in the role because they felt that the role should go to someone of Native descent, not a Taiwanese-American.

He’s a great part of the history and the show, he brings the quiet, wise and tough guy to the show. Rip brings more quiet, rough and tough to the show, had my Black short jacket like Rip’s wearing it around the house the other day. I looked cool, need me a black cowboy hat.

>The project has provided Asbille, who is of Chinese, English, and Cherokee descent, the opportunity to learn more about one piece of her multi-faceted lineage. “It’s been a blessing to get to explore native culture,” she says, adding that indigenous rights has also become a focus of her studies at Columbia. “As a person of mixed race, as you get older it matters more to you who you are and where you come from. So to be able to get in touch with that side of my heritage has been amazing. I’d like to do that with all aspects of my heritage in the future.”

This interview also attributes her as >Part Cherokee and half Chinese

Good show. Not sure why Reddit is so weird about it.

Really unclear why it has a conservative label other than it is set in the country.

Some of the characters are jerks and the show never explicitly disagrees with them. Not even just Beth or her husband, Costner's character is also a piece of shit. All the characters are rich people who know they know better than the government and everyone outside of their insular community.
