The Sopranos excelled at writing dialog that both demonstrated an amazing amount of substance and nuance in it's characters while constantly reminding the audience just how ludicrously dumb they all were. A genuinely difficult feat of balancing comedy and drama.

Sopranos dialogue sounded how real people speak. Not clever lines like many shows do.
