I wish I could watch some famous medical dramas such as House MD, ER and The Good Doctor.

I once powered through Scrubs but it was a time when my health anxiety was more under control (being a mix of drama and comedy also helps).

I also have a hard time dealing with shows where the characters deal with mental health issues or are placed in mental institutions such as Legion and the second season of American Horror Story (Monk being the exception).

How about you guys, which show you would like to watch but can't because it triggers your anxiety?

I can’t watch Euphoria, probably the only show that’s ever effected my mental illness

lmao any "competition" show about anything gives me anxiety. American idol, Master Chef, Ru Paul etc etc etc.

Watching people lose competitions makes me wanna hug them. Watching people get eliminated and crying just makes me sooooo sad. America's next top model was my real first exposure as a kid (watching it with my mom) and I used to cover my ears and squeeze my eyes shut when it came to the eliminations as if it was a horror movie moment.

Curb Your Enthusiasm, while great, stresses me out sometimes. Euphoria I don't think I could ever do. No chance in hell I could ever watch Free Solo (movie, but whatever). Too scared of sheer drops and been to Yosemite enough to understand the scale.

I don’t know why, but no show really triggers mine.

I don't recommend watching The Bear if you suffer from anxiety

Anything with improv. I couldn’t watch “Who’s line is It Anyways.”

Anything that depicts harming kids. The pilot came out when my wife was pregnant with our first kid, and when they pushed the kid out the tower window (I think?) I just had to shut it off. Hard pass. Never watched another episode.

Another one that I barely managed to get through was Breaking Bad--the episode with the kid in the house where those tweakers were trying to break open the ATM machine... could barely handle it.

Maybe a weird one but I cannot handle shows where someone is abducted and kept in a small place for most of the show. The biggest issue here is The OA, I believe everyone when they say it's amazing but it stresses me out so much I had to stop watching. Another show like this is The Patient, I'm sure there's some others I'm forgetting

Nope, no claustrophobia. I think it's more the kidnapping aspect that bothers me. I only specified small spaces cause there's shows like Squid Game where people are kidnapped but there's this big facility they're in, that doesn't really bother me (yes they go willingly but it's the most popular example of this genre I can think of). Another big part of it is all these shows usually have an escape attempt every few episodes that always fails and that just makes me feel hopeless

Anything involving bullying, like heavy bullying but these tend to be scenes in good shows so I can’t cancel the show altogether

The Office. I've worked for people & bosses like them. Not. Funny.

OTOH, I love Office Space. It's more cathartic.

I don't watch serial killer documentaries.

It really surprises me how many of these are out there and how popular they are.

I don't actually wish I could watch these documentaries either lol. I don't feel I'm missing out on anything.

I have a lot of trouble with shows where people have to be covert: going undercover, pretending to be someone they’re not, that sort of thing.

I tried to get through Man in the High Castle, but there are so many scenes where people are trying to bluff their way through tense situations, and I realized I was watching enough of those scenes on mute and just reading the subtitles to get through them that I was better off just putting the show down

I refuse to watch clips (on TV or on youtube) of parents pranking kids. The kids are literally being provoked into crying, but if the kids do start crying people consider the kids brats. And if the kids do "forgive" their parents the kids are praised for being "raised well". I really don't like to be made fun of and am expected to just sit there, and I don't like the same being done to kids.

13 Reasons Why. A character kills themselves. I don't want to compare my life with a character who committed suicide and think "wow, my life sucks compared to their life!"
