As the new Head of MGM US Scripted TV, Lindsay and her team will develop projects for Amazon Studios, as well as continue to take projects to the external market.
Interesting to see Amazon are still open to MGM selling shows to outside distributors.

Does seem weird that Amazon have not yet tried to revive Stargate for Prime. Maybe they are waiting to see how The Peripheral does before committing to another sci-fi show?

It takes a long time for these projects to get started.

I'd love for some new Stargate after seeing what they did for The Expanse.

Let's hope a Stargate revival goes better because The Expanse was cancelled mid story

Amazon picked up the Expanse and honestly played it out until a reasonable conclusion given >!the massive time jump !<

Stargate simply isn't that big. Its fan base has always been modest compared to other sci-fi/fantasy franchises, meaning that the expected audience for a new show isn't that big, especially since what fans seem to want is a continuation of the previous franchise that respects all that backstory and lore and might not be welcoming to newcomers as a result. Combine that small audience with the expense of making sci-fi TV that looks good, and the business case for a new Stargate show isn't as strong as some fans seem to think.
MGM had years to bring back the TV franchise after Universe was cancelled, but they didn't. They have The Handmaid's Tale and are involved with Vikings, so it's not as if they're not interested in genre TV.

The Expanse would have been canceled well earlier if Amazon didn’t save it after Syfy. It got a satisfying conclusion that leaves them room to do the rest later if there’s interest.

I'm not a big Gibson fan and don't know the source material, but the show is just not very good. Slow, but not in a good way. Plodding. And oh god, the yellow filter on everything.

I can pretty much guess the showrunner logic behind it:
"Gibson? He's cyberpunk. Cyberpunk's just vidyagame shit, so our target demographic is 15-year-olds who like to feel smart, but for whom the height of wit is 'u fukk ur dad'."
Could they have at least given Cherise a moustache to twirl?

Yes please, I just want Stargate, not SGU but SG1 or SGA formula. Im glad this script is coming from Brad Wright.

To be fair, so did the last series of Stargate.

One thing Amazon Prime Loves to do is nickel and dime subscribers.

New leadership for scripted means a new opportunity for Brad Wright's Stargate pilot to be shopped. Pretty much my biggest dream project that could come out of Amazon studios.
