Scenes are not normally put into shows for viewers to skip, they carry impact and in this particular case, it's to literally help us understand the character development and to emphasize that regardless of how tough or mean someone is, the mind is susceptible to trauma which will have lasting affects if not addressed, often for the rest of your life with the issues compounding in severity. Edit: apparently skipping scenes is regular for animated shows, mostly because they literally recycle scenes between episodes as an overlap to catch up from the last episode without actually making it into one of short recaps before the show starts. And secondly for non-cannon shows or shows that have a lot of irrelevant content to the cannon content in the series - Star Wars:Clone wars animated series - in this circumstance, people skip entire episodes so as to only watch what is relevant to the cannon story. But again, none of this content was intended to be skipped, it just fails to feel relevant or interesting to the viewers who choose to skip it.

Kinda funny but it was pointed out to me that I'll fast forward romantic scenes that don't show anything.

The Melphi scenes are the best part of the show though.

Jennifer Melfi's scenes are the best of the show. It's true what Chase said, that a big portion of Sopranos fans are idiots

Absolutely not. And if a person is smart, they'll pay attention to every small thing.

I just have to comr to terms with the fact there are people that will spend their lives thinking Just Shoot Me was the greatest show, because that's about as deep as they get they simply cannot grasp why people loved the Sopranos, Six Feet Under, the Wire or hell, even Seinfeld. Lol

I don't get the purpose of skipping scenes in a drama or even a sitcome.

I understand skipping parts of SNL or a talk show when they have an ongoing skit you don't enjoy.

But skipping parts of a drama is a great way to miss key story points. If I ever find myself disliking parts of a show that much I would just stop watching the show.

Skipping parts of a drama makes no sense to me. That is on par with people who watch shows at 2x speed or scroll on their phones when watching. Why bother, just quit watching it.

Anyone who skips the "Melphi scenes" is missing the whole goddamn premise of the show.

I 100% skipped every scene with the Sopranos kids last rewatch. Didn't miss or lose anything bc those 2 are completely useless.

I start rewatches of Better Call Saul with the introduction of Gus and skip everything with Chuck and a lot of stuff with Kim up until the point she becomes interesting. I dont care about Criminal Lawyers. I care about criminal Lawyers.

I don’t trust people who skip those scenes, the relationship between Jennifer and Ton made me love the show.

Aside from intros and credits, no, I don't see the point of skipping parts of a TV show, especially a drama with deep writing and a lot of details.
