No shit, and some people in America eat mac + cheese with american cheese all the time.
Does that mean an American cooking competition should choose crappy pasta and american cheese as 'special ingredients'?
No, because much richer and more appealing foods represent the country better, just like Mexico.
Why are we watching them cook with crap simply because the producers want to push that lifestyle? It is a cooking show, not politics.

Yeah I only lived in Mexico and ate across the country.
