It seems like it’s a parody of shows like Riverdale or Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Especially because those shows kind of change the essence of what the originals were, and taking Scooby out of a Scooby Doo show seems like a similar idea to that. I’m not entirely sure tho. I could be wrong. But that’s what it seems like to me.

I totally agree, it def doesn’t seem like a straight forward reboot is mainly what I’m trying to say. It really feels like they purposely are poking fun at Hollywood tropes.

You're the first person I've heard with this take. I suppose we can't rule it out, but I'd be surprised if it ended up being the vibe I get from the show.

I only say it because I’ve seen a couple interviews that didn’t quite go out and say it, but alluded to it, and a few articles. But at this point it’s all speculation from every one until we all get definitive facts.

I think it's about Hollywood proving that they don't care what people want. It's also about Hollywood proving that they have money to burn.

Maybe it is. I mean, in the quest for diversity they played right into every possible sterotype. Or, most likely, it's a "satire" in the way "The Room" is a dark comedy.

all I see about this project is Kaling appropriating a beloved character and turning it into a young version of herself, like in a flashback sequence we see child Kaling watching Velma and saying "one day Velma should look like me and talk like me, one day!!". There should be regulations on vips doing that sort of egomaniacal shit, especially using old IPs that have nothing to do with their garbage ass delusions
