>Part of the joy of watching Coolidge in the first season was the way she transcended her own star persona, subverting expectations and adding emotional depth to the dumb blonde roles she often portrays. In this season, the writing regresses Tanya to nothing but those very same clichés, treating her as if she were a joke.

again with the writing!

anyone starting to notice a theme here?

I saw the exact opposite review of the writing here or on another sub like two days ago. I'll reserve judgment until I see it. I enjoyed the first season quite a bit, which had mixed reviews iirc.

i loved the first season, except for the suitcase thing, not a fan of that but i loved the show!

i feel the location, the actors and the script made it a one-time thing, i don't feel that they can repeat that, but i'm happy to be proven wrong.

i do, i loved her, the spaced-out character really worked for me, i totally got it, and the scene on the boat?, with the other couple thinking they're having a nice quiet dinner, and she's dressed in black, all fucked up, throwing the ashes of her dead mother around?

slayed me

like i said , i loved the show

First season only really worked because of the lead hotel guy; without a strong lead the whole concept falls apart

This is the only bad review from 37 total reviews on rotten tomatoes… I’m not too worried

I feel the same. She was my least favorite part of Season 1 and I was disappointed when I found out she was recurring. I actually fastforwarded through a lot of her scenes. But that's partly my own biases, I've never really been a fan of her work and she frequently plays the exact same character.

Yeah man, nothing against her and she seems like a lovely person irl but I was looking around during season 1 and couldn't fathom why she was the one everyone was slinging praise at. Her character was easily my least favorite.

It's not even out yet. How are critics not obsolete in 2022?

Only negative review I’ve seen and not a particularly well-written one. Sounds more like a Twitter than a professional review.

It has a 81% on Metacritic with 34 reviews in. Seems the reception is overall very positive.

Did anyone find the acting a bit off/ flat/ or weird timing? I loved everything about the first season and accepting that this season will likely be totally different but the first episode didn’t really do it for me. Even with lots of character build up you’d think there would be something to hook you or make you feel something.. it fell short for me but I’ll likely give the whole season a try. Also I love Jennifer Coolidge and her character! I disagree that she’s less in this season. Her wheels are definitely turning around her husband.. she’s always worn the rose colored glasses and just wants to be loved but now that she’s got him she gets to learn what she really wants and who he really is and I think that’s happening. I found her to be a really endearing character because even in her codependency and basketcase-ness she’s interesting and authentic and empathic.

yea. stifler's mom is meant to make the scene very uncomfortable to watch. idk what disliking the character even means here. obviously we hate seeing her like that. like someone needs to help that poor woman asap.

that's my reasoning exactly, you see a middle-aged women in distress, and lost, the scene where she's in the ocean throwing the ashes in the sea is so full of pathos, it almost hurts to watch.

i think she and the hotel manager where the breakout stars of the show.

That’s odd. Every other review I’ve seen has been positive and from l watching the episode last night I personally liked it and think it’s going to be a good season.
