Yeah I feel like the whole point of Tony is that, despite his villainy, he’s not a sociopath and actually has a strong sense of right and wrong. It’s just that what’s right and wrong to Tony is a lot different than what’s right and wrong to someone who’s not a waste management consultant in North Jersey. >!At least that’s how he is at the beginning of the show. I think of Tony’s overall arc on the series as him gradually coming to terms with his own evil, especially given how his relationships with Chris and Dr. Melfi end!<

Neither of them are just ‘sociopaths’ in the medical sense. It’s just a label and often used as a blanket term for people lacking empathy. While yeah they both -do- lack empathy in general guilt about things eats at both of them. They are not -without- empathy, they make themselves believe they’re in the right of things and whatever violence they do “has to happen” b/c of their whole mafia mentality. The only one on the show i’d really label a ‘sociopath’ is the guy who clubbed vito’s brother and got smoked by bacala sr

This one popped into my mind too.

Though, there is a complexity there. He's really presented as an 'every man' who's allowed his position to go to his head. I see him as an allusion to the Nazi commanders who just fell into line, drank the coolaid, and believed what they were doing was right (because they were following orders). He occasionally shows humanity towards others, but his view of reality is totally screwed. (I guess that makes him a sociopath, haha).

I think Mrs. Waterford is equally as sociopathic. Maybe worse?

Its difficult to say, cause real life sociopathy is usually a lot less impressive than it is in the media.

The majority of real world sociopaths, whilst manipulative, aren't usually particularly intelligent, especially charming or successful. They often have poor impulse control and struggle to plan ahead.

I think the best example I ever saw was a one off antagonist from Waking the Dead. Whilst very dangerous, the guy was utterly consumed by ego and had no concept of perspective. He literally incapable of understanding other people existed outside their relation to him and only got so far cause his parents were still bailing him out into his thirties.

Would anyone consider Bev from Midnight Mass a sociopath? She has all the earmarks of one. Lack of empathy. The desire for power and control. Manipulative. Hostile/Aggressive toward others. Sense of entitlement. A constant liar.
