I find myself watching Apple TV Plus for the visuals and the production quality. But don't ask me what happened in their shows because I don't remember because it was playing in the background. I don't do this with other platforms.

As a business model is this sustainable? I know their are good programs on the service, I just haven't gotten around to them. I'm getting it for free so I can't complain but I worry they'll eventually double or triple the price.

I didn’t pay attention to your content, I read it for the font choice, sentence structure, and general paragraph separation of ideas.

Is this a viable way to get upvotes?

For you, maybe not.

For Apple, they have Apple money so yeah it's sustainable.

They’ve started tightening their belts, thanks to uncertainty in the financial market.

  1. Do yourself a favor and watch For All Mankind.

  2. You're not totally wrong. As a whole, I dislike Apple. But I originally got a free trial to watch Greyhound (not bad either) and then explored some other stuff. My opinion of the service has always been similar to yours in that I thought they really lacked significant content. But I also knew, as you said, much of their stuff contains visually pleasing cinematography, etc. So in a way, I kinda respect that (that hurt a little bit to say).

Ironically, I've tried a few times to get into The Expanse, and I just couldn't. I know it's me because everyone raves about it (kinda like I do about For All Mankind), and that makes me sad because I really want to like it.

Don't feel that way, I'm one of the only people who loved Apple's foundation show

I get down voted for my critiques on here it's just the more I watch the service the more I'm convinced it's for hard core aficionados of the art of creating good television and not for casual viewers. And I fear the average is going to go over their heads, which leaves them with Netflix. It reminds me a bit of Paramount Plus which is another service I struggle with, but watch for similar reasons. It's quality over quantity and most people don't respect that approach.

We certainly are a dumbed-down society, aren't we?

Sure-Ad7730 OP t1_ir3b5h1 wrote

We are.

Biggest critique of this service is that they don't have a legacy catalog. I don't think that is an issue. I was around for a lot of the legacy content that the services ran by the networks and cable TV stations own and to be honest, it was not that good. I don't want seventies, eighties and nineties content I want something new.

If you're looking to relive those days or you're a young person watching stuff from then vicariously this may not be the service for you. Better to push forward than live in the past.

Severance, For All Mankind, Mythoc Quest, and See are varying degrees of good. And of course Ted Lasso is quite popular too, though i’m not a big fan.

I liked Ted Lasso but all of the many Apple advertisements on it really takes me out of the show.

i legit enjoyed the first season, but each new season just gets more and more saccharine, i can barely handle it anymore.

finally someone who watch SEE! what do you think of this final season?

i don’t love it but it’s enjoyable enough. generally speaking i feel like they could have done a lot more with the idea of everyone being blind. it’s kind of an afterthought most of the time.

Kaiser_Allen t1_irndh5i wrote

They hire a lot of blind and low-vision people for the show—both in front and off camera. We probably just don’t understand how instinctive blind people get when they’ve been living that way for so long.

I'm trying to get into For All Mankind. Again it's a beautiful and well done show but the episodes are like an eternity and each installment feels like a movie. But I appreciate the attention to detail.

I watched Physical it was cool. I started Severance but I put it down and started watching WeCrashed.

Severance and For All Mankind are amongst the greatest TV shows ever produced.

Fair enough.

I haven't seen a show as well produced as For All Mankind in years.

I’ve done that with certain shows, like Perry Mason.

Apple has some great stuff, though. Seems very likely they’ll eventually increase the price.

Please watch foundation. The show is average in many ways but the arc of the galactic empire is a masterpiece that trumps star wars shows today in every way

Still don't know how I feel about the fact that Star Wars lives on through a bunch of TV shows that only the hard core fans understand and appreciate. On one hand it brings it to a newer generation but on the other it dilutes the brand in my opinion.
