Those that I’ve rewatched, yes. The Batman animated series and Spider-Man animated series from the mid 90s both still hold up IMO.

The Spider-Man series in particular was outstanding at introducing me to so many other Marvel characters. The voice acting is also great and contains more recognizable names than I ever would have guessed.

rashmotion t1_iuat48c wrote

Yeah I always felt the Spider-Man show nailed the character - his snarky one-liners were very on-brand and for ages that was who Spider-Man was to me.

11

SirZapdos t1_iuaxy6e wrote

Agreed. I always enjoyed his interactions with Jameson, or "Picklepuss" as he called him. JK Simmons is of course the GOAT, but Ed Asner did the character justice.

6

rashmotion t1_iub4l3z wrote

Oh yeah, Asner did an awesome job. RIP.

SirZapdos t1_iub60cj wrote

As did the recently deceased David Warner, who voiced Herbert Landon. Started off as a one-off villain and then became a recurring character. King move.

Dalisu92 t1_iuffta9 wrote

I recall a YouTube video that the animated series is where Sam Raimi got most of his inspiration from for the Spiderman films. More so than the comic's.

I still say I saw that show way too young at daycare and it molded my love of weird animation and comedy, and I can't say I hate that it probably did. The animation of a lot of that era's shows influenced me a lot.

YouTube might have a few channels playing them non-stop or perhaps that was for holiday specials only

Hey Arnold still hits hard. Such a great show.

I watch that Christmas special every year, it's unreal how heavy it gets. Doesn't seem like something that could exist today

I was only born in 94 but remember watching it when I was a kid.

They still showed all those old cartoons all throughout the 90s, I probably saw as much scooby doo as my father… well probably more

The other day I came across the original thunder cats and i was still entertained..i was actually amazed how well animated that show was. It has this very Japanese anime style of art.

Last week i finished watching Infinity Train, shame it got cancelled because that was a very entertaining show. Had lots of potential.

I'm upset Rick and Morty took a mid season break. This season is really good and funny.

Most amazing thing about X-Men is that they're basically a mobile metaphor: it can go from representing 60s civil rights to 90s gay rights to 2020s trans right seamlessly.

I've been going through a Disney+ nostalgia binge.

Doug, Recess, Pepper Ann, Teacher's Pet, Goof Troop, Even Stevens (not a cartoon, but definitely cartoonish)... they're still hilarious.

as for Western animation, MASK was my jam. Best intro, along with Defenders of the Earth
