I re-watched JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS and I still enjoy watching it, the music is pretty good and the story-lines are surprisingly mature. The animation is kinda bad but this was the 80s.

Yeah I always felt the Spider-Man show nailed the character - his snarky one-liners were very on-brand and for ages that was who Spider-Man was to me.
Agreed. I always enjoyed his interactions with Jameson, or "Picklepuss" as he called him. JK Simmons is of course the GOAT, but Ed Asner did the character justice.
Oh yeah, Asner did an awesome job. RIP.
As did the recently deceased David Warner, who voiced Herbert Landon. Started off as a one-off villain and then became a recurring character. King move.
I recall a YouTube video that the animated series is where Sam Raimi got most of his inspiration from for the Spiderman films. More so than the comic's.
Recess holds up amazingly well.
All hail king bob!
Gargoyles
It has held up surprisingly well.
When convincing my partner our kid should watch it I described it as "Shakespeare: The Animated Series" and I stand behind it
Fuck yea. Tom and Jerry all the way.
Fairly Odd Parents is pretty good, early SpongeBob is pretty good before it got too dumb, ATLA is great
Yes I love Rockos Modern Life as a 7-yr old kid and as a 20-something stoner
I still say I saw that show way too young at daycare and it molded my love of weird animation and comedy, and I can't say I hate that it probably did. The animation of a lot of that era's shows influenced me a lot.
They got so much past the censors that it’s even better as an adult
I am not afraid to admit that I still watch Arthur and Garfield and Friends regularly.
I still watch Garfield and Friends, too!
Where can you catch Garfield and friends at nowadays?
YouTube might have a few channels playing them non-stop or perhaps that was for holiday specials only
Pluto TV
Hey Arnold still hits hard. Such a great show.

I watch that Christmas special every year, it's unreal how heavy it gets. Doesn't seem like something that could exist today
Core memory unlocked. Those dark episodes really hit hard. Wasn't there a movie as well?
I've started watching scooby doo where are you on hulu and I'm having a great time.
I was only born in 94 but remember watching it when I was a kid.
They still showed all those old cartoons all throughout the 90s, I probably saw as much scooby doo as my father… well probably more
Yeah, cow & chicken and dexters lab are way funnier as an adult
Dexter, Billy & Mandy, and Spongebob had some very adult moments. My wife called to my attention the Spongebob line "See you next Tuesday, Mrs. Puff!"
The other day I came across the original thunder cats and i was still entertained..i was actually amazed how well animated that show was. It has this very Japanese anime style of art.
Last week i finished watching Infinity Train, shame it got cancelled because that was a very entertaining show. Had lots of potential.
I'm upset Rick and Morty took a mid season break. This season is really good and funny.
That Beth episode is a new classic
ATLA pretty much is all I still enjoy.
Now and again I will listen to the songs from Jem and the Holograms, they're so damn catchy. Growing up Rugrats and Hey Arnold were my favourites and I still enjoy them.
Well, I watched The Simpsons as a kid...
Shout out for Gargoyles
X-Men had surprisingly adult/mature topics so I would still enjoy that today. TMNT maybe once in a while for nostalgia
Most amazing thing about X-Men is that they're basically a mobile metaphor: it can go from representing 60s civil rights to 90s gay rights to 2020s trans right seamlessly.
For a show about mutants, it's a surprisingly human show
Can't beat Rocky & Bullwinkle
I know I'm dating myself, but there's nothing better than Bugs Bunny, the Roadrunner, and the original black and white Popeye cartoons.
I still watch the D&D cartoon once a year.
I LOVE Jem we should totally talk about it
Jem was surprisingly entertaining on a recent rewatch. I feel like it’s not the norm that they are so good.
I like the misfits' songs !
Most of the cartoons that I watched as a child were already 25 years old and made for adults. Yes, I still watch them.
I've been going through a Disney+ nostalgia binge.
Doug, Recess, Pepper Ann, Teacher's Pet, Goof Troop, Even Stevens (not a cartoon, but definitely cartoonish)... they're still hilarious.
Ain’t nobody got time for that
“Lord Jesus it’s a fahr!”
I introduced my children to Transformers:The Movie and the Robotech series earlier this year. I know that Robotech is a santitized version of Macross, but that's what I grew up on and I still love it.
Did they care when Optimus died in the movie without having watched the series beforehand?
They knew who he was from the Michael Bay movies. No. It didn't really impact them.
Currently re-watching The Tick cartoon. Missed so many episodes when I was younger. It is better than I could have imagined.
‘Cause I am the Mad Bomber, baby, what bombs at midnight!”
Hell fucking yes - adventure time!
Didn't that just finish like 4 year agos? I don't think that's really enough time to look back at it. It's just looking at it still.
Yes it did! But I still love it haha
Fair haha, I still havent watched the final season but I loved everything I saw so far
For the most part yes, and I unironically think that some of the best shows of the last few years have been kids' cartoons, too.
Denver the Last Dinosaur still holds up.

I LOVE The Weekenders still. The characters are so well-done & I feel like a part of their friend group. Haha
in the 80s I watched so many anime like Hokuto no Ken, Tiger Mask, Cat's Eyes, Maison Ikkoku, Yatterman, Devilman, Lamu (Urusei Yatsura) , Lupin the Third, Gatchaman, Great Mazinger, Sasuke, Sampei, Captain Tsubasa...you bet your ass these are still as awesome today as they were at the time
as for Western animation, MASK was my jam. Best intro, along with Defenders of the Earth

Honestly even as a kid i never cared much for the kid oriented cartoons sans TMNT.
Maybe this explains why i love adult oriented cartoons so much today.
Yes, I recently watched some episodes of hey Arnold! and I enjoyed them as much as when I was a kid.
I would rewatch Arthur or Billy and Mandy if they were on any streaming services in my country.
Some yes, some no
Invader Zim is too lolrandum and shrieky for me now (they especially Flanderise GIR as the series goes on), but the soundtrack still slaps.
ReBoot, blitzed through the first 3 seasons and kept on going “I remember this!” Or remembering all the references, or finally getting the last reference in season 3. The Pirates of Penzance, who knew!
Of course.
Well, some didn't age well, but some are still great (Once upon a time space, Space Cobra, ...)
Anime series like one-piece yes, normal cartoons no. Stuff like Arcane and cyberpunk too
Some do, some don't. I loved Gundam wing as a kid and it's unwatchable to me now. Pretty much anything that aired on Nickelodeon holds up great though.
Rocky & Bullwinkle, definitely. Road Runner, not so much.
The Flintstones 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Someone tell me if Samurai Jack holds up because I never finished it but always wanted to
[deleted]
I know everyone knows but SpongeBob seasons 1-3 plus the movie are still straight up funny
90s X-Men I didn't enjoy as much on viewing this year, KOTH still holds up VERY well however
No not really.
Honestly a lot of the stuff I watched in the mid-late 90s for me hasn't aged good comedy wise and I have a really hard time getting into them. I try but lot of the times they just don't click with me anymore.
No, I have little interest in rewatching any of my old cartoons. However a couple years ago I watched Avatar Last Airbender for the first time and thought it was absolutely fantastic. Makes its popularity when I was a kid make a lot more sense

Those that I’ve rewatched, yes. The Batman animated series and Spider-Man animated series from the mid 90s both still hold up IMO.
The Spider-Man series in particular was outstanding at introducing me to so many other Marvel characters. The voice acting is also great and contains more recognizable names than I ever would have guessed.
