What i mean is not in remakes or anything

Like you see a character live their life grow and become the person they became only for someone else to start playing that character so every interaction they have is way too different now

And not ones rplased by a new character that is different

Examples:

Family Matters the actress playing Harriet decided she was done the network wanted 1 extra season so they recast her after 8 seasons and 2 on Perfect Strangers as the same character

The case of the 2 Vivians on Fresh Prince of Bel Air she got replaced half way through even though they make a joke about it in the episode

More recently on sitcom American Housewife the youngest daughter Anna Kat has obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which causes her to act different than other kids her age and has 4 seasons of growth for the character from all sides

the actress was in Quinten Tarantino's movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood did great left to persue other opportunities got recast last season and it didn't really work after having someone grow and develop as a person only to be recast

Laurie in That 70s Show

Becky in Rosanne they nod to it in The Conners

Darrin in Bewitched

So many times in my Moms Soap Operas

They've Tried and failed in Wrestling where 2 Wrestlers Kevin Nash and Scott Hall left WWE/F and their previous characters they played were owned by WWE so they figured why not recast with new people

I think it depends how notable the character is. Could you replace Urkel or Carl? No. But I can't say I care about Laurie.

Totally depends on how good the replacement is and how they justify it in the show

Ask Bill Roach. He’s been playing the same character since 1961.

I think it's weird after even one appearance. Like on Everybody Loves Raymond, Paul Reubens played her brother in one episode then Chris Elliott played him the rest of the series

Depends on the character. Like you said in soaps-more so than any other series. They change either because the actor decided to leave(many), died(Edward Quartermaine comes to mind), or taking the character in a different direction/aging the character. Unless the actor just doesn't do well, viewers tend to accept it....even if it takes awhile. Primetime for whatever reasons, viewers are a little pickier. Even when it's not an actor replacing another in the same character. Like when a character/actor leave, they bring in someone to be a new character-viewers always still compare them.

Feeling this with Superman and Lois season 3. The actor who played Jonathan Kent dropped out now it feels so weird cause he had perfect chemistry with the actor who played his brother.
