Dexter also had an awful ending. These play a big role in relevance since people aren't as likely to rewatch a show that falls apart at the end.

People need to get over that none of the showrunners thought Dexter deserved anything approaching an ending that didn't give him back his karma.

Yes. I don't agree with that, but I can see the reasoning. Problem is the execution was awful. The pacing near the end. Angela solving the BHB case with Google.
