There is something to be said that a whole slew of netflix series seem to abuse vignetting and selective focus, or whatever correct term applies here. When I first noticed it while watching You, I started seeing it everywhere.

A camera can be focused on one point but still have a wider depth of field depending on the aperture. So your snarky comment is inaccurate.
