You're doing this NOW, Netflix? After people have been sharing passwords for a decade already and your streaming catalog is the worst it's ever been? Sounds like somebody's board put too many MBAs in charge and they're about to shoot your business in the foot

Why does Netflicks have profiles then? If I pay for streaming to 3 screens at once why does it matter where those viewers are at. Encouraging users to to use a feature and then calling it a crime..
QuestionableAI t1_j1a0kv9 wrote
Had Netflix for a while ... their business model was "share your code with all your family and friends" ... while they were trying to make a name... now as their shares tank they want to declare others criminals... fuck right off.
Will never deal with them again, ever, not even for free. I can watch crappy shows elsewhere, plenty of resources available without the cursing and threats from those jackoffs.

It’s basic history that can be found in any western textbook.
Nicaragua = bananas India = black pepper Iran = oil
There are many other examples, but these wars were fought at the behest of private companies.
In Iran, the British hired the CIA to organize a coup and depose the then Prime Minister of Iran because of his plan to nationalize the oil industry. Which would have affected the British oil company that had an ill-gotten monopoly at the time. This might help you get started on the Iran case: https://www.jstor.org/stable/40209809

Let's hope that their plan isn't to go by IP addresses alone, given how completely inaccurate that is.
People on 5g home networks are going to be getting these warnings constantly, maybe every single day as their IP's change and routing bounces around.
I'm one of those people and within the same say mine fluctuates multiple times between 3-4 cities that I live more like 800 miles from. (I'm on tmobile 5g)

Gee, an actual answer to the question, how dare they!? Filthy Netflix shill must have a tongue up Netflix’ butt! Get the pitchforks!
As horseshit as Netflix’ terms of service are, the answer’s not wrong. Do we really have to downvote everything we don’t like? There’s barely any discussion on Reddit anymore, because everyone’s jerking each other off with extremely one-sided takes and downvoting everything they personally disagree with.
I’ve shared my Netflix account for years and I cancelled my subscription because of Netflix’ recent bullshit, but even I can see where they’re coming from and pretending I don’t just to jerk everyone off for karma is pointless.
When I started sharing my account, I lived with my siblings and parents – we shared the account within the household. Nowadays we all live thousands of miles apart and have children of our own, yet we all share the same Netflix account.
Again, I hate the change. I cancelled my subscription. I’m pissed that me cancelling probably results in at least two of my siblings subscribing for their kids.
Still, I must be paid by Netflix because I can understand that multiple households with children all using the same account because the parents lived together a decade ago is stretching the account sharing rules.

Came to say this.
Might be beneficial for Netflix, white knighting or whatever, but never downplay the gov't wanting their tax revenue. I would imagine that many people here(b/c US) don't realize that citizens have to pay for OTA TV in the UK, making sharing Netflix passwords theft of tax revenue.

TL;DR
If you’re living in the United Kingdom, you might want to be careful about to whom you give your Netflix password.
A statement was issued by the country’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO) on December 19 that said “accessing... apps without paying a subscription is an infringement of copyright and you may be committing a crime.”
The IPO is working on a joint campaign with Meta urging people to avoid pirated and counterfeit goods online.
“Piracy is a major issue for the entertainment and creative industries,” reads the statement on its website.
“Pasting internet images into your social media without permission, or accessing films, tv series or live sports events through Kodi boxes, hacked Fire Sticks or apps without paying a subscription is an infringement of copyright and you may be committing a crime.”
The law applies to sharing passwords on Netflix but also extends to other platforms such as Amazon Prime, Disney+, and Apple TV+.
However, a spokeswoman for the IPO told Newsweek that “copyright law remains unchanged,” and there are “a range of provisions in criminal and civil law which may be applicable in the case of password sharing where the intent is to allow a user to access copyright-protected works without payment.
“These provisions may include breach of contractual terms, fraud, or secondary copyright infringement depending on the circumstances.
"Where these provisions are provided in civil law, it would be up to the service provider to take action through the courts if required,” she added.
