Former Automotive engineer. This just isn’t true. Recalls are triggered by the government in many cases. I once had my personal car’s sun visor recalled because when any fault is present in over X amount of vehicles it triggers a mandatory recall. Similarly, they must recall anything overtly dangerous if im recalling my experience with Fiat-Chrysler’s law department correctly.
Ps. This system was also Tesla’s saving grace because they were so low volume for so long. Now, not so much.
