ICE cars are 60x more likely to catch fires than EVs, which is the complete opposite of public perception:

ICE engines have also been commonplace for like 100 years give or take. EVs are just starting to get real traction. Whole "Devil you know" type deal. I've been guilty of putting more money in a shit box car than it's even worth because I know what's wrong with it and can live with those problems. With a new (to me) shit box, I don't know all the problems and quirks.

That may be true, but you have some semblance of a chance to put out an engine fire with a fire extinguisher. Aint nothing stopping a battery fire and the whole vehicle will be fully involved in like 20 seconds.
You get in a serious wreck in an EV where the battery is compromised and you are trapped, you are just 100% fucked.
Edit: EV simps out hard today. Battery fires are very aggressive and fire departments have been struggling to extinguish them with full equipment. You can't deny that there is an inherent danger to EV battery fires. You can simp all you want for them, but it's a challenge that will need to be overcome with more and more EVs on the road.
