This is another example of why you don’t use the app, just use the website. And they always make the website shit and forcefeed ads every single time you visit the damned site to use their shitty app

I get an email every day about the notifications I have on Twitter.

My phone is logged in, but every time I try to reset my password, they claim they will text me a password link and it never happens.

Oh well.

Random but what cell provider do you have? I’ve had two people with T-Mobile recently where nothing changed on their account but short codes were blocked. Some still worked but a majority didn’t. They both called, something tweaked on the carrier end by the CSR, and they could get them all now.

I had Verizon but now I have Xfinity which is just Verizon reseller. So not like a podunk carrier.

I ditched the reddit app, it's too slow and clunky. I also saw it was hindering my sleep.

Now I just use reddit on the computer. I like the interface on computer better. And I don't use it that much as I would on the phone, as I don't like sitting at the computer all day.

I think Twitter fails to understand (or more likely, is ignoring) why people screenshot tweets

thatfreshjive t1_irfgzb4 wrote

And they've also rolled out an "edit" button simultaneously.

They're encouraging, and enabling, political figures to manipulate their own words.

Straight out of 1984.

BallardRex t1_irfig9r wrote

The button works for 30 minutes, right? I don’t think that really helps any of the cases of political figures being screwed by what they said.

SIGMA920 t1_irfj1oz wrote

It also from what I've read about it allows you to see the initial version so the history of the tweet is recorded as well.

I have sincere doubts that limit won't slowly, and quietly, be increased overtime.

Mr_SkeletaI t1_irfmtgw wrote

What reactionary nonsense. The edit is only available for a certain amount of time and you can still see what the original tweet was

5

thatfreshjive t1_irfweha wrote

For now it is time-limited, yes. What about this is nonsense? It's how social media services have always introduced controversial mechanics - slow creep.

Apple just added edit button to imessage recently too, weird

thatfreshjive t1_irfi709 wrote

Which I'm sure has nothing to do with right-wing politicians and pundits getting eviscerated in discovery, via SMS records, in court for whatever lawsuit they're dealing with on a given day. /s

DevonWithAnI t1_irfp6tn wrote

it absolutely has nothing to do with it considering you can still see what the messages were before they were edited

Dude are you okay? Seek help lol

thatfreshjive t1_irh637j wrote

I'm perfectly fine. I'd suggest looking inward, my dude.

Ask for help, it isn't going to come if you do not seek it out.

Screenshot the tweet, then screenshot the edit history. The edit button isn’t the worst part it’s the delete button.

Political figure can tweet something, people get big mad and screenshot, political figure deletes tweet then claims any screenshots of said tweet are fabricated images, supporters believe political figure, screenshotters are labeled as spreading false information

Deleting a tweet is a decisive act, though. The capability to edit after the fact introduces ambiguity: ie. "How do I know that was the original tweet? You could have edited the screen shot."

−2

ArcadeAndrew115 t1_irg90p4 wrote

Your logic applies more to deleting than editing: “How do you even know I posted that?” “You could’ve photoshopped that tweet to make it Look like I did”

thatfreshjive t1_irh8ic3 wrote

True. I was more curious about where others thought this was headed, thought I'd gaslight a bit. That didn't work out too well 😅
