Claiming Taiwan has nothing to do with the CHIPS. China's stance on Taiwan never changes since 1949, before Integrated Chips were patented by Texas Instruments in 1958.

Having worked both at TI and in the chip industry I can say with confidence that Chinas interests in Taiwan have changed significantly since Taiwan started making microprocessors. China wants the money more than the traditional ownership.

But you cant drill for chips. You need the infrastructure intact and people to like you enough to do high level work for you.
