This source doesn’t specifically say it’s a fire code but it’s the law regardless. Just another way to keep people from getting ahead of you ask me. It would mean so much for me to renew for 6 months and get ahead but because of these laws, it isn’t allowed. And unfortunately this company doesn’t currently have any 2 bedroom options available. I wish they did because I would just stay with the same place. I had no idea about the occupancy thing per bedroom. It makes sense but I think there should be an exception with a newborn. But since I had him 2 months ago and my lease is up in one month, I don’t have much time to plan. It’s stressful and I had never heard of a law so ridiculous prior to last week.

Ah, I see. "Allows for the landlord to enforce 2 people/bedroom."

Sounds like a shit landlord tbh. I've never heard of somebody getting in trouble/not being able to renew a lease because they had a baby in their bedroom. Many parents keep the crib in their room for awhile after birth, makes getting up in the middle of the night easier.

Seems like your landlord wants an excuse to boot you and jack up prices for the next person. I'm sorry you're in this situation. Housing in this town is abysmal.
