I reached out via chat yesterday when there were connection issues and this was the lovely message I was left with. That number is the same as Quantum's "Success Team". Regardless of what it was, it's a bit concerning that the Brightspeed Chat Rep is telling me that they don't handle our service.

This looks like it might be a post about area ISPs because it contains the word Quantum. If so be sure to read past posts on the subject. They all basically say this: In Springfield your options are Mediacom, Att, and now Brightspeed Fiber (in limited areas).

Good times...I guess I'll be keeping that number handy for the next issue I have. Thanks for sharing this!

My husband has been keen on switching our ISP over to fiber but I feel like I keep seeing more and more issues since the transfer to Brightspeed. Not to mention their response reads like PR 101 with poor grammar lol.

The brief drops yesterday were the first issue that I've had with them in a few months of service. I haven't noticed any drops today. I was paying a lot more money for slower speeds, data caps, and less reliable service with Mediacom.

It's likely because SpringNet is a special project by CU, who simply contracts the running of the network out, and so is handled differently than regular servicing.

The CRAZY run around I had trying to get their number was unpleasant also. Here are 2 though -

Brightspeed chat support was aware of the issue as of 4:20pm yesterday afternoon and had a slight idea of what was wrong. They acknowledged my address, account, etc.

SpringNet only provides dark fiber to Brightspeed - they do not run any electronics or directly operate any data circuits that comprise Brightspeed's network. Brightspeed is responsible for customer support, operating the network hardware, Internet uplinks, etc. The only time SpringNet will get involved is if Brightspeed diagnoses a broken fiber or other issue with the physical network.

T -mobile has home internet for 50$ / month. We live in rural western Greene County. Works great. No data limits. City of Springfield is also covered.

Reminds me of Cricket Wireless. Great until you have to call support. Which thankfully is rare.

Same here. Had it for a year and it was the first time that we’ve had internet drop out. It happened 2 or 3 times that I’m aware of yesterday. Overall been very happy with the service.

I'd caution against T-Mobile and Verizon home internet if more traditional service like fiber and cable are available in your area. During high traffic/congestion times on 5G networks, home internet users are the first to be throttled if needed.

When I had mediacom I had constant issues at home. I lived in KC and was spoilt by google fiber. I’ll admit brightspeed isn’t that good, but it’s still way better than mediacom or standard internet. Especially if you work from home.

Thanks for the update. Did Quantum Fiber become Brightspeed or are they two different ISPs?

We've had Mediacom 1 gig fiber serivce on the SW part of town near Battlefield and haven't had any issues. $60/month.

Yeah, CenturyLink sold a lot of business to Brightspeed. To be fair, I’ve had no other issues at all. It was just a really odd interaction to be given some random names and a number for further issues.

Where do I find out when Quantum/Brightspeed will be available in Rountree? I remember filling out an “I’m interested“ form what feels like an eon ago.
